Please tell me he didn't use the track key. Otherwise I'm really not impressed. The factory racer only beating a camaro off the lot by 2 seconds on a road course? Come on man. IMPRESS ME!

That was the American Muscle vendor car, so they would likely not have access to TracKey yet, just like the rest of us.

The LS would have lapped the Camaro.

2 seconds a lap from a standing start, and a bad one at that. That's plenty fast enough.

two second win after the camaro started off about a second or more ahead. Do a second lap and I bet the boss pull away by another 3+ seconds.

Two seconds in a drag race is an A$$ wooping. Two seconds in a mile race ain't anything to get a semi over. I want to see DOMINATION. I would love to see where the Shelby would place on that same run.

2 seconds is pretty impressive on a 1.9 mile (IIRC) course. I think what Big Vito is getting at is the fact that the Boss 302 was about 2 seconds/lap faster than an E92 M3 at Laguna Seca, and we know an E92 M3 is much faster than a Camaro SS around a road course.

This is my beef. It's an apples and orange race which is B/S. That Boss damm well better beat that straight up camaro off the dealership lot. Why even pair them up? The 5.0 GT and the camaroSS are about the same in price depending on the list of options on the gt. If chevy decided to put out a "race" version of the SS and change up some suspension and tunes, where would it be? About $40k and possibly across the line first? Why not put the GT against the SS? I don't think that it would be that big of a difference anyway. So I'm just not getting a partial chub over the outcome of the test. Like I said, I want ford to come out on top but I would like to be impressed.

This can't be true. The Camaro has an independent rear suspension

Turns out that doesn't help much if the car is a fattie :-)

But yes, bring on the Stig. Mustangs never got any love on Top Gear, it's about time for that to change.

I'd bet that since Hammond owns a classic Mustang, he's gonna LOVE the Boss!

Doesn't Jeremy actually own a GT also?

We spun forever off the line. I definitely think a hot lap, not from a start, we would have seen 1:15 or so. The Camaro maybe 1:18-1:19.

Completely stock tires on both vehicles. Stock 19" Boss wheel/tire combo and Stock 18" (I believe) Camaro tires. They might both have been Pirellis? Neither tire was meant for the road course, and things would have been different, even with a good "Ultra High Performance" tire... nothing special. Any tire would have made an improvement.

kinda thinking that your prediction for a rolling start is a bit low - sounds like a mid level r coumpound, a 1:14 is very predictable
