Vertical rear tire spoilers
Someone posted an updated 302 Supplement that suggested that the two spoilers in front of the rear tires be removed for the track to aid in rear brake cooling. This isn't in the original supplement that came with my car. Since I don't plan on returning my car to street trim after track days, I'm trying to figure out how important these spoilers are to the functioning of the car and to rear brake cooling.
My guess is that they are to minimize tire drag for fuel mileage and/or keep road crap out of the brake tire area.
Anyone have any knowledge about these appendages?

Well, I couldn't figure out how to remove them without ruining them, so I left them on. They don't look too effective at blocking air to the brakes anyway.

I believe they are just to help keep air out of the wheelwell to reduce drag.
