Traction Control Issue with 2012 Boss
Traction Control Issue with 2012 Boss
Hey Everyone,
I am a new user and need some feedback. I have a 2012 Boss which I purchase new in June of 2011 and current has about 6,000 miles on it. Today afert making a left hand u-turn at normal speed with the silver street key during normal acceleration the advance track system stalled my car. It felt as if the vehicle was applying the brakes and stalling the engine at the same time. Has anyone else experienced this problem

I had the Advance Track come on while backing into my garage. All i can tell you is I disconnected the battery terminals for about 10min reconnected them and dorve the car for about 2miles and the light went back out. Never had another problem sense.
Welcome! With TC on, if I try to run through the gears off a u-turn, she'll try to shut down on me. Ive found that using Sport mode and/or either babying it through 2nd or revving to 4k+ in 1st will usually keep TC from bogging her down.

Did your AdvanceTrac light come on or flash? I had 1 instance where my AdvanceTrac light flashed 3-4 times after I pulled out from a R/H stop, the R/H side brakes were applied on & off a few times. Once I had gotten over 40mph, no further problems. No further problems since then, was about 2 months ago.
I did not have 'Sport Mode' selected at that time.
There is a thread here about a problem w/AdvanceTrac;

Have been keeping my eye on this, as it was a problem that really got my attention. Have not been to dealer, but will take it in if I have another issue.

It's interesting that most of the Advance Trac and TC threads are about the systems being overactive. My car spins the tires so much I wouldn't even know those systems existed. Seems like they don't do anything.
I ran a AutoCross event last summer. During the event I felt like the system was slowing me down so the next run out there I gave it a shot.
WOW, is all I can say, I was all over the place spinning ,doing donuts ,just out of control. It really does work.

Reading this thread reminded me of something that I had happen last summer.
Copy/paste of the original post when it happened....
That was 8 or 9 months ago, and it hasn't happened since.

Need some help if anyone has any ideas (Paul maybe). Had something really weird happen in the 500 the other day when I was going to that car show. I stopped at the store for some gas, it was early in the morning and still cool out.
When I pulled out of the store I decided to get on it a little. I got it straightened up and matted it in first rolling about 10 mph (TC fully on, didn't even think to turn it off, was a spur of the moment thing).
It jumped out quick but as soon as it hit about 3500 it came unglued. The TC kicked in harder than I've ever experienced it in this car. It literally fell on its face and felt like it shut off completely. I shifted into second and matted it again and it came back to life and took off but for only for about 2 seconds and fell on its face again just like before.
So I gave up and shifted into third planning to just drive on normally and that was where the problem happened and it freaked me out. All of the previous happened so quickly that I don't know if this was happening at the time and I didn't notice or if it didn't happen until I backed off. It was vibrating and making a WRRRRRRPPP WRRRRRPPP WWRRRRRRPP sound much like the sound of running over those rumble strips leading up to a stop sign, but it seemed to only be coming from the rear, the right rear especially and it felt like a brake grabbing and releasing.
My mind was racing through what the hell was happening and I noticed then that the TC light was flashing. So I turned the TC off and it quit immediately.
Now, my question is have any of you experienced anything like that, and what could it have been? My thought is that something in the rear caliper or calipers stuck or the TC/stability control was still trying to activate, maybe from a faulty reading from a wheel speed sensor.
The vibration is what bothered me the most though, I don't see how applying the brake was causing that and I feared it was something in the TracLoc unit in the diff.
After that it was fine the rest of the way and all the way back home. Even got on it a couple of times with no issue, but I didn't nail it in first, just matted it in second a couple of times.

Similar to what I experienced. Had stopped on the way to work, started up & pulled out after, had AdvanceTrac light flashed a few times & felt like the RR brake was being applied on & off. Have not had it happen again.
The lady on AFM who had a similar issue did not get a fix to the intermittant problem until the module was replaced.

I do not like traction control. Do not think it is a good thing for these cars. Steering with the rear is part of the fun of spirited driving. Especially when you do some suspension mods the car is easy to drive. like others have said I turn my tc off as soon as I get in my car.
