Track Key and Custom TUNE
Track Key and Custom TUNE
As a few people have noticed, i have the track key listed in my signature and a CAI for being on my boss,
the reason ford sais no CAI's on the car when you get the red-key programing is because it changes the airfuel settings back to stock.
all the aftermarket tuner company's like SCT re-write the factory programing and make it something that your local tuners use, so apparently i was the first to bring one with the red key programing into Mike Dez or SCT for that matter, soon as SCT gets done with the software shortly i will have the red key and my mods,
warranty pffhhh whatever
its only a matter of time... i will have my red key programing and a CAI some full length headers and a much healthier exhaust.......
will update when i can.....

Which intake are you using, and what company is doing the tune for you? I would like to do the same with the Steeda intake. If you read in the Steeda intake thread someone asked gus if they could tune the car like this and he said no. I think before to much longer all of the big name tuners will be tuning trackey.
Good, SCT needs to figure this **** out for those of us interested in aftermarket tunes w/ a red key, after the warranty expires (or before, for those of you who are daring)
Chris23 and Drew, I too hope some clever tuners will come up with an alternative tune for the Boss community or figure out modifications necessary to alter TK delivered engine power.
I submit however, this will not be easy.
The TK software has very purposefully been encrypted to prevent "reverse engineering" and meddling by third party tuners. Understandably, Ford wants to protect the proprietary nature of the code and the time/expense they incurred to develop and certify (thank you CARB) this option. I believe time will tell this will be quite a challenge. But I am still hopeful.

I too think that this will not be an easy chore. A year or more ago, Ford rounded up the "Ghost Key" programs in the public sector promising lawsuits, etc. Aftermarket programming has been a nightmare for the OEMs and I think we're seeing them do what they can to make this a difficult process. That said, I DO hope that SCT figures it out.

all we can do is sit back and wait. All Boss owners are very accustom to that after waiting for the delivery of there car and release of TK
I've got time...another 2.5 years and/or 31,000 miles...
I guess TK is still 5/60, huh?
Hopefully I will have the car gutted and caged for competition before that runs out, we shall see.

I really do hope someone is able to work this through.....
Your 5/60 does not go away with trackey. Trackey warranty goes away after 3/36. If something breaks after your 3/36 it will have to be DIRECTLY related to trackey for it not to be covered. Essentially trackey will have to be found to be the cause of it. Think about it for a second......how hard would that be to prove????????? And it has been said by people at Ford that this should not be a concern at all...........
OK! I don't think we need to go back down the path of THAT thread again!
