DO NOT buy the Ram mount. I did and couldn't use it. While it is robust as he'll, I count configure it on the windshield to allow video capture. It really only designed to have the iPhone face the user. The arm slots only allow a few positions.
I bought the Tomtom mount as recommended by Harry.

Can you please post a link to the mount? It seemed to work well as your video was very stable. My iP4 takes amazingly good photos and video in daylight. Not so good indoors. I recently read the iPhone will become the most popular camera in the very near future.
I will steal Dave's thread rather then start another. Dave jinx me anyway
, took a rock in the right side bumper cover on the way to the track while on the trailer. I key scratched the whole right side of the F150 so I don't think it will be doing that again
Couple of vids from yesterday, all you can hear is the wind. Gopro says use the open back below 100, I figure the two points I get over 100 would not come out well sound wise and the rest would be good, not the case. Next time I will try the closed case but I used it on the street and still got a lot of wind noise. I love Dave's setup with the track info!
I had new Nitto 555's on for this run, first session it was like being on ice, after the heat cycled (my new word I learned this week
) they got much better. Still not a good as the factory tires, I expected that but they cost a lot less. I hope to step up to better tires soon but did not want to burn up a nice expensive set during my first runs.

going to interject for a second. misfires on track are kinda a way of life on track. they will sometimes throw a hard cel. and that helps identify the problem..
it is usually a plug that has fouled or bad, (they will sometimes clear on there own) or a coil / wire that is not secure. you have at least have cyl # to narrow it down.
my last event i was turned on to this.

not expensive, reads codes. and you can reset them. will give you most every temp or reading. not sure all of the gauges available with the boss.
you also can set mph and put it in the line of sight. useful for learning corner entry speeds.
all done by the obd 2 port.
i am enjoying all of your on track posts!

May have to try that, thanks for the link Scott. Not sure you are enjoying the posts as much as being out there
I know nothing about the settings for the limp mode but it is about time cars have them, generators have had them for many years, at least with low oil pressure/level and temp. I want to study up on this but I would think the mode would be set off by the same type of things, if there is a misfire for whatever reason I don't see why that would put the car into limp mode. What would be the gain cutting out four more cylinders when one is off line???

I run an Aeroforce gauge to monitor temps and yes it reads and clears DTCs. That's how I know it's always been P0300 when it's a hard cel. The one that kicks it into limp mode always flashes CEL and clears so don't know what kind of DTC it's kicking.
do you have the option for pending codes? not sure the link i gave has that either.
but that would answer the question.. harrison software and a laptop. or the dealer..
will be curious to see how this plays out.. low fuel on a track day is something to avoid also...

you would be surprised at how little it takes to slightly foul a plug and get the flashing light for a lap or two..
i just got a hard 301 code. first time in a long while. for me that is two plugs two wires and two coils to check..
it misfired for a whole session, but ran fine.. last session half way done it went solid. ran fine.. drove home fine..
it is the norm with the rx8.. the ecu picks up a whole lot..

it has replaced some 200 dollar software and a tablet.

i might make it next sat. who knows..
have only ended up in limp mode for failing fuel pump.
and to answer your many cylinders? less is less / more is more. it the car is overheating they tend to go rich, then cut power via throttle or fuel to cylinders.
btw, going rich can fowl plugs..
a point about the h20 temp gauge, if it is a on or off type. if it starts to move it is to late. the car is to hot to be on track.. get out of the power.
but i would be shocked if you guys are getting them to hot.
