Tiger racing hood

I recently got into an accident and have been able to get the Tiger hood since it was cheaper then the hood quoted by the body shop. I will hopefully be picking it up soon and will be installing the Aerocatch pins. My question to anyone who has the hood is, did anyone drive without the hood pins installed and if so did the hood flap or lift at all due it being so light. The reason I ask is because I won't be able to install the pins till after it is painted, so I will have to drive it home without the added safety. The gentleman at the body shop insured me that the hood will rip off and the latch will come out of the hood yada yada. I highly doubt this happening since the louvers should push the hood down, the bumper should create an almost seal with the hood, and if need be I can use painters tape to keep the hood down on the sides. Just wondering if anyone else had any such issues.

Brandon, we have this hood installed on 3 LS's - all using the OEM latch. Each of a LOT of track time - and speeds in the 140-150mph range. NO PROBLEM. We don't plan on installing additional latches.

Sweet, I would like the added security of hood pins, that and the aesthetics of it (seems to look like a race car). I just wanted to be sure the gentleman who was telling me all this was maybe a little over zealous with how bad it could be, too put it nicely.

Glad to say I have pictures of the final paint job, stole the idea from BlackNDecker on SVTP.

Ditto.

Also, if you plan to reinstall the windshield washers I would be curious to see how you mount them.

I am on the fence about it. I will either cap them and just make sure that the windshield is waxed and clean, or I will get the kit from AM that places the nozzles on the wiper blade arms.

I also plan to take a ton of pictures when I install the hood pins (Aerocatch) and then do a write up on the install. 908ssp had some pics, but I wasn't able to find a full write up for us.

Here it is on the car, not the best picture since it was taken from the body shop, but it looks better as a whole then as just a hood.

I think I will start with two pins, one either side and go from there.

I don't know if it is possible to attach some sort of insulation on the under side of the hood, as not to interfare with the louvers, reason being is that on my tiger hood you can see the seam that is underneath, from the top of the hood, it got worse over time, you will not believe the amount of heat that is released through the louvers, but still hot enough under there to cause some distorting of where the bottom seams attaches to the top of the hood!!
