Ticking/clicking noise

My 2013 Boss did something odd this weekend, I have about 1000 miles on it. (I use it at least once or twice a week) I started it and let it warm up as usual before taking off, but as I accelerated above 2K rpms I would get this ticking noise that sounded similar to a valve lifter. We drove 240 miles that day, and the noise disappeared. My oil level was perfect, it hasn't moved a drop since purchase, The most I've revved the car to is 6K Rpm, I was going to let it loose till redline till this happened. The only thing I've done to the car is adding the MGW shifter. The noise seems located to the rear RS engine bank. Anyone have similar symptoms, or have noise from the shifter?

Yes, I have much the same noise at times from what you are discribing. My understanding is that it is a bit of piston slap. It seems to go away after the car warms up, it also seems less after the first few thousand miles. I'm at 9k now, and my motor never has used any oil. It seemed pretty strong when the car didn't have any miles.

There are a few posts on this in this section, and there was also a service notice from Ford on this? Maybe? I seem to remember that. Somebody with a better memory might chime in.

I noticed this with only the Red Key several times until about 1500 miles.
Has gone away since. 2000 miles currently.

piston slap does not sound like a ticking noise, more like clunking, but not knocking.

Mine is doing the same thing off and on. I was told it's the timing chain guide?

To my understanding it seems to be some sort of valve slap coming from the heads. I have a built motor using the heavy duty boss 302 valve springs and i have this heavy ticking/valve slapping at idle, it seems to lessen as the car heats up as well. Motor is strong as ever and i see no performance issues from this, also talked to a mechanic and told me the same thing that it was sort of slap coming from the cams.

Edit: Mine seems to go away as i rev it past 1k, I dont know if my exhaust just drowns it out or i goes away though.

I have the same thing and I hear it from underneath. When I open the hood it's not there. Might be an exhaust rattle but I can't pin point where it's coming from because it sit's so low. Would be nice to have a pit.

Does it tick at low RPM's but not idle? I have had an exhaust tick since I got the car and it will randomly happen under light acceleration.

I have a "rattling/knocking noise" from very low rpm to about 2.5 when its cold. still there when its warm but not as loud. I think its the pistons of the below TSB. I have over 8k on my car doesnt use any oil and never has.

the TSB 12-8-3 maybe what you are hearing. something with the AC and the stretchy belt.
