Thinking of selling my Boss
Yes this is for EVERYTHING.... Gas for towing, hotels (could save some money by camping), food, parts, fuel, tires, fees, etc, etc. And this is not necessarily for a front running car.... I budgeted out for Spec Racer Ford a 9 race season in the SE. It averaged out to $1676 per race weekend.
This also does not account for if you zing a motor or your transmission goes or you need a rebuild on the shocks or major crash damage. It also does not account for needed personal safety gear or car purchase or anything of the sort…. Nor does it account for trailer or tow vehicle wear/tear and maintenance. Just to race a car for the weekend.....
If someone who ACTUALLY races is running substantially cheaper than this I would love to see the whole budget….

I do save on hotel and gas costs b/c I am only running at tracks that are within 3 hours of me, so I can get there early AM the first day and only spend 1 night at a hotel. Sebring is only an hr and 15 min from me, so I dont even get a hotel, and Daytona is only an hr and 45 min.

Super Touring Lite Miata (90 chasis w/ 99 motor swap) - fresh RA1's will last me 5 weekends before I notice a drop-off in grip. Luckily I'm finding them dirt cheap now that Spec Miata switched to Hoosier SM6 (rebadged R6) as their spec tire. I may switch over to NT-01s once I go through my stock of RA1s.

I'm racing with SCCA only right now. Down here the fees are pretty cheap (SEDiv, FLA or CFR events). For example, a double race weekend at Daytona this weekend is $250 for both days. In comparison, a DE at Daytona is about $600 - $850 for two days. For my major expendables like tires, brake pads, rotors, I am running Toyo RA1s, Carbotech pads and OEM rotors. The brakes are a bit oversized for my application, but I think that helps with the longevity of them, and is why I'm hardly seeing any wear at all. I'm putting less wear on my equipment (based solely on track time) because I'm only running 4 sessions a weekend (2 race / 2 qual) when racing vs. 8 sessions a weekend with the DE clubs (4 sessions a day).
Scott, DE at Daytona are not that much. HOD is 425 and 400 for the 2nd or 3rd day. PBOC is less then that 300-350. I have never run with Rezoom and think they were close to this also but so far I do not see them listing a Daytona date.
Considering PBIR costs about $300 a day the high banks are a deal at that price.

Regardless, entry fees with SCCA at all the tracks are tremendously cheaper. $250 for two days with SCCA vs. $800ish for two days with HOD is a big gap. I did a 1 day race with SCCA at PBIR two weeks ago and it was only $190.
