Sweet looking JLP Boss 302 intake prototype pics

Johnny over at JLP sent me these pics and asked my to share them around. this is his nearly ready Boss 302 intake, the engraving is optional. It looks pretty cool, he doesn't have a price set just yet. i want one with a competition orange inlet pipe and a black anodized box. For some reason he doesn't have Stang stuff on the site, but he tunes for them link is below.

IDK, i have nothing to do with JLP, he just knew i have a Boss 302 and sent the pics over to taunt me with coolness. I suspect the difference is that this particular intake is closed with the idea being the air gets more pressurized as you drive sort of ram air style. IDK that for fact. i just liked the cool style.

That thing is huge, they could probably put a centrifugal blower in there and REALLY make it "forced air induction"...

As I understand it, "forced air" is the redirection of air through a specific channel and not air that is swirling around, then sucked in in the hopes of gathering as much as possible. Sort of a "metered air" system, although a little different as there is no true cut off point (in the gathered air). Now, a "cold air" intake is just that-colder air than what would be found in the ambient air (say, underhood). One could almost say the two are the same with benefits of each in the one system. To add further confusion, both are a mild type of "ram air" system as well because the air is being "rammed" through the MAF at a higher rate as air speed and volume increases. It makes for a denser charge of air which increases HP. Okay, now I'm confused.......................But you guys are right. It's mainly a marketing gimmick, but it does add HP if done correctly. I remember years back, the concept of "free air" induction was being used on snowmobiles (1970's?). Sort of an extension of the Ram Air phase from the 60's.

It's just a marketing gimmick, IMO. The 11+ stang already has a snorkel to the front grille.

Looks cool, but the whole 'forced air' thing is most likely just a good gimmick. Regardless, looks sharp

Jersey, I am with you. The "forced air" credo is a gimic to hype the unknowledgable owners.

And IMO, it does not look good either.

I would try and keep it as close to a 90 turn instead of a 120 or so...
also it looks like the designer wasnt very good at this game:

The radiator cover has an angle coming off of it. Tie the shield angle into that
and contour the rest to fit. Dome it to cover the filter & add lines to match the
Boss hat. Easy cheesy.

As is it reminds me of a bad fitting Volant.
