Staggered vs square wheels all around for your BOSS?

Has anybody had any issues by going one size rim width all around?

My Boss has 19x9 in front and 19x9.5 in back and I'm thinking of either going 18x10, 19x9 or 19x10 all around and was wondering if any of you have done this and encountered anything adverse with regards to handling, more under steer etc? Issues with track key? And if so what do I need to do to correct it or should I just leave it alone and keep it staggered.

I plan on keeping my original staggered rims only for winter where I won't drive much due to snow/salt etc and getting a designated summer set which I can drive like hell on for both on and off the track so any help would be greatly appreciated! By having an all around rim size, I can easily swap/rotate etc

Thanks and Happy Holidays!

I decided to go with Forgestar CF5's in a 19X9.5 all the way around. I run BFGoodrich KDW's in a 285/35/19 front and rear. The rear has been lowered one inch...other than that everything is stock. No problems with rubbing or anything like that.

Interesting question Firefighter120 and one which has been discussed many times on this forum. I purchased a spare set of OE sized rims from Ford Racing for my alternative tires. But think about this...

It has been stated by a number of Mustang owners, the Boss is the best handling Mustang variant that Ford has EVER offered to the general public. Statements like, who needs an IRS and the associated extra weight when the car handles this well straight from the factory. So why now do you want to move away from the wheel size/stagger Ford developed for our Boss?

Well, I'd assume that having wider tires would make the car handle even better... The tires, to my understanding, are one of the cars biggest downfalls when compared to the 1LE.
Plus, with a square set up, you can rotate!

This is all true. Don't listen to people who think the factory design is perfect. The factory design is perfectly built to a complete compromise.

Square set up will reduce understeer....used to run staggered set up on my 98 Cobra. Went to 285/40/18 on all four corners. Car is more neutral in the corners. And more than just a tire advantage for the 1LE

I run 19 by 9s up front and 19 by 10s on the back. I don't think you can run a 19 by 10 on the front. I like the staggered set up it feels better in the corners. The big advantages for the LE are tires and brakes. Other than that its just a Comaro.

i run 9 up front and 10 in the back and have no complaints...I like the look, no under or over steer that i notice, and she's ok on cupped roads too.

OOPS, just realized I don't own a BOSS. please disregard

Here's what I run, apart from the stock staggered setup.

Winter:
18x9 SVE Drift
255/45

Track setup:
18x10 F14
255/35

With both setups, I can say the car is more oversteer happy. It's not very noticeable during street driving, unless you gun it mid corner. But on track, I can't get on the gas as early as I would like on certain corners, because the a$$ end starts to get around.

Having said that, don't get discouraged for going with a square setup. You just have to be a little more careful, and patient with the gas, when pushing the car on track. From what I've read, a simple sway bar mod can accommodate the square setup nicely, and you still get the advantage of rotating the tires.

295/35-18 on an 18x10 on all four corners. Easy fitment.

Hoosiers on 18x11 all four corners. This fitment uses different offsets front and rear and will require camber plates and likely a Watts link to keep the tires out of the fenders, but it fits and can be run with no tire-metal interference.

Jason, what watts link do you recommend for the 18x11 square setup?

Any Watts, as it is not an inboard clearance issue like the 18x12, but it needs to keep the tire from moving laterally as the suspension moves through it's stroke.

And I don't want to seem biased, but for the majority of owners who have mainly street cars, or dual purpose street-track cars I really like the Whiteline mainly because it uses decent bushings (instead of spherical bearings) and it packages well without adding a lot of weight to the car.

Can you post some pics of your 285s on all four corners?
