Recaro Seat Protection
Recaro Seat Protection
I'm trying to find something like this for our seats but no luck. I'm wondering if we can have some made if there is enough interest.

I would be interested!!
I'm also looking for '12 Recaro seat protection. My old '84 Supra had similar seats in shape and cover material. I used cheap black cloth covers found on JC Whitney (!!) and the original seats looked brand new when I sold the car in 1998 after 260K mi. The JCW units actually looked decent, and they were thin and tuff, so there was no feel difference. I'm interested in any and all solutions, and would go in on a group purchase, thought the ones pictured in this thread aren't as good looking as my old JCW units.
I am with you but then the other day I saw a 4 by 5 inch area that is severely worn, it is into the stitching already on the seat base. Right now I am working with the dealer to fix it and Deysha sent in a follow up report. My car has 2K miles on and I was surprised at the amount of wear. If it get replaced I will need to find some kind of protection for them. I am thinking more about just the base as I do not want to cover the airbags.
I do seat repairs often and if I had the recaros, I'd wear em out and reupholster what needs done (usually just the bolster)... It's way cheaper than most ppl think and I can match material to where the pickiest car-nuts can never tell a difference. Remember, you don't have to replace a whole seat, just whatever strip needs fixed... Upholstery shops are the way to go! Why have crappy seat covers on such a nice car?

I'm about to move to Austin but if you need something here, PM me and I can get you lined up w/ the right peeps. I typically only do dealer repairs but I could help out my fellow TMS'ers

And congrats on the move to Austin. Love that town.
Thanks Kona Blur,
Agree that crappy covers would not impress too many strangers, but my experience with local, well known upholsty shop was not too good. Looked fabulous for 14 months, but the new material fell apart after that. The shop refused any help. Not sure how to be sure the materials will last. Oh well, that was a long time ago, so will keep your suggestion in mind.

Mine is coming apart on the base right side rear. Do you think you could make some kind of cover/seat insert (in-between the bolster) for the seat bottom in the same material? Something that you not really notice at a quick look, would be better then putting a towel down on the seat. I post some pictures when I get a chance.
