Plasti dipping Boss
I am sure this will invariably cause some guys to say "That will ruin the value" or "You should have bought a GT to ruin" however I have been tracking my car more and more and was to protect the stock paint and also people to get a little silly with the colors. Has anyone else in the Boss section thought of doing this? I have been watching more and more videos and I think the best part is that if you are dissatisfied you can peel it off without any harm to the car. Some of the fun is also getting a little wild with the color, I have been thinking about trying to replicate the purple that you see on the old SE30 Diablos.

They suggest when doing the wheels to use tire shine so that it will come right off when your done. I did my faux gas cap and the over spray was also a little hard to get off since it did create a thick enough coating.
You just gave me the idea of using clear Plasti-Dip on the leading edge of the hood and front bumper, maybe even the mirrors, to protect from flying debris.

plastidip finish is horrible on large scale like an entire car, I too have seen many and put my hands on them. it's your car do whatever you want with it. the wrap is really the right way to do this. you asked for opinions i gave mine.
No that's true, and I wasn't getting upset, I just was unsure if you had seen one. And as I said the cost/benefit seems better for me with plastidip instead of wrapping.
My question then after reading a few people saying it will look bad is, in which way does look bad? I kind if like the matte dimpley look that I have on my faux gas cap after plasti dipping it. Does it turn out very textured?
I've been watching plastidip videos on YouTube all night. I'm definitely going this route on my faux cap. Dipyourcar.com on YouTube has great info.

As long as you do a good job of cleaning/prepping the area, its no problem at all. Once the grease and dirt is off it holds pretty well. You also have to practice spraying it; it doesn't behave exactly like paint.
I think its a much better choice than a wrap. Cheaper to do/fix/touch up. And you get to be creative with it. you could try any number of patterns or designs without worrying about losing money or ruining the car. I'm surprised more people don't use the clear dip anyway as a clear bra

I love how there is always someone that has to take something benign as offensive. Edited "rice out" to "ruin". And in retrospect I am sure that will offend someone else. What I was hinting at is that some people view the Boss as a collectors item that has a special value, either sentimental or collector, so I am sure some people view changes like removing the decals or covering it in rubber as wrong.

I dont think that was meant as a slam to GT's. It was a slam to guys who would slam him for using plasti-dip for whatever reason. But lets consider for a moment.... Those of us who bought a Boss may have done so because we liked the finished product, without intending on doing a lot of aesthetic modifications. If it were my desire to build a car to look a certain way as only I envision it, I would have bought a GT, and then make changes according to the look I desired. SOME people call that "rice." Others call it customization. Figure out what you call it and dont get so defensive when someone else's opinion doesnt match your own. Hence the term, customization.
