I heard they were and besides the 302S grill the cars have the condensors for the AC removed and I believe they have the 302S radiators installed. One of the owners during my TA day, Andy, had the red light come on during our last open track session but nobody went into limp mode. MMP is about 4,500 feet above sea level and it was in the high 90's the day I was there so that track is a true torture test. The car I drove did not get hot but I'm not very fast and was not pushing the car like others are. Since I was there my understanding is they have installed the new FR air to oil coolers. It will be interesting to see if they have cooling issues next Summer and if they install the 302S hood. If the 302S hood solved the overheating problem I'm sure they would have already installed them on the MMP cars.

BTW TMS members Scott, Andy, Charlie and I were all there on the same day.

I pegged my temp gauge but didn't put it into limp mode or pop the radiator cap. That said, our sessions were relatively short...maybe 15-20 minutes. Since it was a regular Boss, I couldn't read water temp, but I'm guessnig CHT was close to 250* based on the stock dummy gauge. Our cars also had the A/C condensers removed so airflow to the radiator was improved in addition to them having the 302S grille and radiator. I've been told they have since installed air-to-oil coolers in them as well.

I figure the track junkies that want better managed water and oil temps will be reading this thread. Here's a preview of the cooler kit that we will have on the market - just as soon as we have the mounting brackets fabricated. Everything else is done... and waiting for the brackets.

The FRPP kit will NOT include an oil thermostat and, as such, it is our opinion that this will be better suited to a mostly track dedicated car. Our kit WILL include a theromostat (and remote oil filter relocation), although we may also offer a non-thermostat equipped kit in order to compete on a price point with FRPP - providing buyers with a choice.

OH yeah, a couple of other members were there the day before us. Did roketman have any heating issues?

I did not have any over heating issues .But I must admit I wasn’t looking!Seriously no Gary,oops I mean limp mode.I actually call limp mode ,Gary mode!
I am hoping the 2013 has this issue resolved.But I will still add Kendals air to oil cooler.

OK, you guys convinced me. Tiger Hood will go on this winter. Just need to decide on material and color scheme. I really like how yours turned out with just the vents painted. I'll have to see if I can get someone to PS a CO/Bk car with black vents.

I say 302S promotional car style, or just body color without accent, ala Rehagen's AI car from nationals:





Regarding the material, it's been said that the carbon version required a LOT of prep work prior to paint. Sounds like the 'glass versions are pretty solid out-of-the-box, however.

Those are the two options I like the best as well. I've been thinking of removing the hood decal from my car anyway so I'd probably just paint it solid. The center piece/vents could always be painted later.

If you pick up the last issue of Grassroots Motorsports, inside the back cover is the 'preview' for an article covering 'what mustang to get'. The picture shows 3 mustangs with the tiger racing hood. One is all black, one is Cobetto's saleen and then Rehagans grabber blue. 3 different paint schemes on the same hood.

Personally, I like the 302S in the front with the all-flat-black TR hood... but then I'd want to paint / wrap my roof and rear wing.

Santa says I can get a TR hood for X-mas.

FWIW, 302S radiator and GT Grill Surround w/chicken wire solved my cooling issue at Hastings.

On the oil cooler install above, isn't that placement going to cause more air-flow issues as it is right in the 'meat' of the air-flow path hitting the bulk of the radiator? Would a lower position still give the cooler good flow while not hindering flow to the radiator?

Nah, any lower and the cooler gets behind the solid bumper. The cooler has to be in the airflow and our testing (and I presume the testing by FRPP), shows that the radiator is still a happy camper. Remember, virtually 100% of the radiator area is "covered" by the AC condensor - to no ill effect.

Will there be be an easy way to tap into your system to run an oil temp gauge?
