Octane

How many of you guys are using Torco or Lucas (or other) octane boost additives? I fear there's too much ethanol in the 93 around here lately.

I don't even run 91 unless I'm using the Track Key.

No additives for me, I only run ethanol free premium from Pacific Pride.

I have a station about a mile from my work, I'll stop by today and fill up. it's also 92 octane instead of my normal 91. What differences can I expect going with pure fuel instead of 10% ethanol?

All Michigan gas is 10% ethanol.
I don't think you will notice a difference going from 91 to 92 ethanol free.

I don't know whether or not one can tell the difference in switching to ethanol free but I do know the headaches it causes in small engines gumming things up and the fact that the government subsidizes farmers to grow it and demand gas companies add it to our fuel when its proven that they use more than a gallon of fuel to generate a gallon of ethanol so the green aspect is not happening! Going backwards!

And I don't know the contribution ethanol free fuel has on my Boss but I have run 12:29 on a all stock car including tires which I haven't seen bettered anywhere.... Just sayin

It raises octane but isn't as combustible. That's why it's still cut with gasoline. It's pretty much just pure grain alcohol that doesn't ignite like gas.

Interesting information - thanks for letting a GT guy come in here and ask a question I'm curious if I'll get better mileage with ethanol free, there are only a handful of stations that offer it where I live and I'll have to switch from shell to 76... I'll reset my MPG calculator after I fill up and see if I'm where I normally am at (I'm currently at 19.8 MPG with 50/50 city/highway and 100% spirited).

Do NOT use Torco or any other "octane boosters" esp if you actually need the octane! Use leaded rce gas if you have no cats as the wideband o2 sensors are still much cheaper than a motor if you are on the edge...turbo, SC, no2, etc I ran 5 gal 93 with 7 gal Sunoco purple as my ONLY fuel when I had my Boss. With 785 RWHP you dont take chances with that Torco crap!
