I've been getting Nittos for $1060 a set until this last order. He honored the price, but said they're $80 a tire more next time. That puts them right at the R6 price. They're not lasting me any longer than the R6s.

Yeah the price went up due to the dollar weakening against the yen

Yep and makes those Indiana tires cheaper on a relative basis.

Is that John Berget out of WI? I've bought scrub R888s from him in the past. Usually pretty good stuff, but occasionally got some that didn't have much life left.

Now that's a name from the past. It's been 15 years since I've heard his name. I used to order 15" Goodyear cantilever slicks from him.....they were take offs at the their test facility...for my 911 track car.

Gary, as you can see, I have an affinity for CO cars

Remind me again, is that a GT surround John? A friend of mine just put in a Roush bar grille on his 5.0 and that looks pretty cool. He used a black GT surround.

Looks good to me...what ever it takes!

I have the same grille surround, just haven't installed it yet.
How did you attach the bottom section? Zipties?

$60 GT Grill surround from Rock Auto and $5 worth of square, 1/2" chicken wire along with safety wires to hold it in. I also shot the wire with what flat black paint I had left over from another project.

I didn't just cut the wire to the opening, but rather shaped it so that it wrapped into the grooves of the surround to give it more support / structure. Definitely made it more robust.

Only lost about 1/4 pint of blood on this project

Note: Harbor Freight safety wire pliers SUCK

The bottom section isn't attached. I cut off the lower tab openings (well, and the upper ones as well) on the GT surround to make the chicken wire install a little cleaner. The grill is not going anywhere with the side tabs, and X number of pins across the top.

If it does fall out, I'm only out $65 and an hour or so of my precious time

Thanks for the info.
Good idea about forming the wire around the frame.

I'm guessing RockAuto is going "WTF" at all the GT grille surrounds they are moving as a result of our various experiments
