Mods you would do for $2000 or less

If you had $2k to spend on mods, what would you get?

I bought my '14 GT Premium 'vert last May, and $2000 was roughly my budget at the time. I personally don't see the need for modding engine performance, so I kept it to cosmetic and appearance upgrades.

My mods to date:

1) Swapped the stock stainless steel shift **** to a white cueball 60's style ****...sounds trite, but little things make me happy. It was very the first thing I did. In fact, I bought the **** before I even got the car.

2) Eibach Pro lowering springs

3) '12 Boss 302S wheels

4) GT500 axlebacks

5) Various engine bay bling

a) painted coil covers and plenum cover
b) battery/brake resevoir covers and polished stainless steel filler caps
c) Airraid intake tube (stock filter and box)
d) eliminated the sound tube

This year I plan on a GT500 spoiler and faux leather convertible boot. Down the road I may end up with stripes, wider tires, and a set of Forgestar-like wheels in charcoal gray....or a GT350 when my ship comes in. Right now though it's just a ghost ship.

All suspension mods. Koni Yellows when on sale are about 600 shipped, then some nice springs, I went with P's but I would probably go with Steeda springs, H&R Race springs would def be my prefered choice but they cannot be super comfortable on the street. That would be right around 900. Then I would grab CC plates, I really like my GC plates which were about 320 from Hypermotive. Then I would grab the big UCA from BMR with the bracket, adjustable LCA's and possibly Ford relo brackets and an adjustable PHB and call it a day. If you can do the install yourself then you should be around 2k and would then only need an alignment.

I see no point in getting a tune or anything else to increase power when the car still could use help putting the power down it already makes.

If the goal is faster ETs down the track, go with CAI/Tune, better upper/lower control arms and panhard bar on the rear.

I am thinking about all the suspension items need to stop the wheel hop, a one piece aluminum drive shaft, and the blow fish bracket.

2k will buy a lot of track time. Unfortunately it will end up forcing you to increase OP's budget once he gets the bug.

For starters..

Springs up grade. Stock dampers will do just fine for the learning curve.
Pads and brake fluid up grade.
Tires and low budget track wheels.
$2000 gone and....Then more money
Tires and wheels will eat most of that cash.
I would not worry about any power adders as the Boss has enough power to get into trouble with real quick.
IMO as you learn to handle and trust your Boss you will want to focus on suppenision. But that depends on how far you want to take it (racecar / street-track car). You are asking these guys that are TRUE hardcore racers that know there jobs...Real well.

Good luck in which ever way you choose to go and post some pictures of your mods. Always remember to have fun and be Safe.

Jerry

I forgot to add a good helmet if you dont already have one...ENJOY!

+1 again on suspension, whether you are tracking the car, taking it to the strip, or driving it on the street hard. Suspension will get your car around a track quicker and off the line quicker.

That's me right there and boss mani, wheels/tires, h pipe, roush ab and panhard bar
I'd say with everything excluding wheels/tires I'm at 2400.. After wheels tires, I'll be near 4k.

Depends on what your into...but if it were me I'd get better tires, Intake +tuner combo and better brake pads.

Hankook RS3 v2 275front 305 rear = approx. 1400 all said and done.
Hawk HPS or other better than stock pad front + rear = $200
Intake + tuner = $600-800

Yes, that's more like 2200-2400 but as a starting pkg. that's what i'd go with.

ok, mod question here...its under $100....
what would be the major difference if i would purchase the STEEDA K-Member brace and replace the existing brace on the boss 302. im not planning to race but will i see a major difference since the boss supposedly has a different K-Member than the stock cars? or is it the same? i know all about STEEDA products and their quality so i dont need that part. i had plenty of STEEDA on my 2003 and 2006 GT's.
any help here? its weather i want to spend the $70+ for a part that i really dont need but want. (btw ill probably be ordering the K-Member from them for my 15 this summer)
thanks
