What are some good Mods for the boss 302? I have a 89 5.0 and had an 04 Cobra and was familiar to what those respond to. I noticed it seems to have headers, not sure how good they are yet. It appears some of the popular mods for GT's are boss parts and pieces.

 

What is it you want out of the car? Could always start with a good tune and go from there.

 

Hood struts, sound tube delete kit from Cooltech, and an MGW shifter would be good to start.

For what Borlas cost, I started with GT500 A/Bs. Oh and take the restrictor plates out of the side pipes, see if you like it loud.

 

You could play around with exhaust,tunes,or maybe just go right to a twin screw supercharger.

 

As far as the exhaust is concerned I'm not really sure those exhaust baffles are there or not. I see a little bit of exhaust coming out and I do hear something. The pictures I seen shows a hole in the center of the baffle. Im not sure if that hole is big enough to sound like that. It does sound really good.

 

If you can get the car raised a bit, it is a 10 minute job to remove or replace them with a diameter of your choice. I highly recommend the 7/8" orifice coupled with Borla S-types. http://bossmustangsonline.com/index.php?topic=3663.0

 

First few things is I'd get some ramps if you don't have some.

I have these and use 2 piece's of 2x6 to place in front of the ramps.

I also used the ramps to remove the side pipe plates. Love the sound.

If you have a floor jack like me, then you could pick a pair of these up also.

I like the black look as I don't want to draw attention to an oil separator :P

I'm also putting together a separate clutch reservoir, this is for several possible issues. It's very easy and you'll want to change out your Brake/Clutch fluid to a Dot 4. I'm separating them so I don't have to bleed the brakes too much and I can flush the clutch fluid (where the fluid get's dirty from).

I also did the Hood struts, but I have a 13' and the brackets didn't fit exactly. I added a review on AmericanMuscle to detail it. But if you have any questions PM me and I'll tell you how I didn't follow their directions. Plus I ordered some factory paint/clearcoat to detail the brackets (look factory)

I also added Husky Weatherbeater Molded floor mats from Autoanything

And to hold my phone a phone mount from Mountek, that mounts in the CD slot

 

Thanks for the phone holder tip! I knew I didn't want a vent mounted option, the cd slot is just right! I just pulled the trigger on new speaker upgrades, looking forward to getting that done before winter storage. At least I'll have good tunes when I sit in the garage and charge the battery once a week...

 

One of the best mods to do on the boss is lowering springs. It makes a big reduction in the brake dive. But then you need relocation brackets and an adjustable pan hard to keep all the geometry right. The car really adapts well to mechanical mods.

 

I agree. I've got BMR springs which give it a much tougher stance while maintaining excellent ride quality.
