My bad, that looked like Zoldier's on the trailer(all trailers look alike to me) who I believe is #0004

...I didn't look at who the actual poster was, but the wheels look like the exact same as Gary's.

True, along with the gauge, the upgraded brakes, and the tinted windows. Gary's car is #159.

EDIT: When the page fully loaded for me, it took me to cloud9's (Gary's) pictures of his car on the trailer. It's post number 12 in the thread.

That's Gary's car. He has both of those gauges and is at the track today.

I wish I had mine on a trailer already.

What a fun car to drive Going to have to adjust my braking points from the GT500. I was generally braking way too early. The Boss feels so much lighter and better balanced. I can shave a lot of time and carry more speed into the corners after I get a little more seat time in it. The transmission ratios also affect gear selection quite a bit. I started running a gear up from where I was in the video and shaved a bit more time. I'm guessing with Trackey that will only get better by bringing up the lower end of the torque curve.

I said it "feels better", but it's actually not as quick around the track....yet. My best lap time of the day was about 2.5 seconds slower than my best lap time ever in the GT500 on that track. However, there are a ton of variables.

1) First time on track with the Boss
2) Experimented with two different tire setups
3) Experimented with different damper settings
4) Took most of the day to figure out the proper gear
5) It was in the 50s last fall when I posted my best time in the GT500 and it was 88 degrees last weekend so the weather wasn't as good for performance.
6) I braked way too early in the Boss because I was feeling it out.

So at this point, I can't say it's faster because I didn't actually record a lower lap time. However there is a ton of room for improvement and it's incredibly fast right out of the factory. Also, we don't even have TracKey yet. So for now I'm going to make it faster by working on the driver, then we'll see what we can do to make the car faster.

Gary, you're too nice... and talented. Making the comment about "working on the driver" shows race smarts. I race vicariously through you guys.

I think this says a lot about the Boss' capabilities right out of the box considering the huge HP difference. Which is easier to drive at the limits and more importantly which is more fun to drive on the track?

You're right about the hp difference. That's why I think TracKey alone will make a big difference in terms of usable horsepower. On the track with the GT500 I run a bigger pulley so dial down to 575 rwhp/545 rwtq which is somewhere between 150-200 higher with only 300 more lbs! With all the other supporting mods, the GT500 should be faster than it is right now.

As far as which one is easier to drive at the limits, that's a tougher question. The Boss with a square setup seemed ready to snap oversteer often, but that doesn't make it bad, just a little less room for error finding the limit. With the staggered setup, it was easier to drive. Since the GT500 is more inclined to understeer, it may actually be easier to drive to the limit, but with more seat time in the Boss my opinion will likely change. It's just new right now.

More fun? Well the new one's always more fun because it's new right? Again hard to say, but I'm sure I'll enjoy the Boss more as it's just more suited to the road course. I don't feel like I'm trying to pound a square peg into a round hole.

Thxs for taking the time to lets know how your first trip to the track was and how the car work for you.

The snap oversteer with the SQ. set-up is why San make that adjustable 22mm rear bar for the mustang. Maybe in time you give it a try .

thxs again for your insight to tracking the boss.

So based on what you have experienced so far, what do you feel is going to work better long term, square set up or staggered? I know its early on, but I just wanted to know more about your first impressions as far as wheels since one of my earliest mods is going to be 18" wheels and tires.
