Liberty Ford, Maryland

I have been looking for a Boss 302 for a while and came upon an add in Cars.com for a Boss 302 for sale at Liberty Ford in Randallstown, Maryland. After talking with them they agreed to sell me the car at the advertised price, which was a bit below invoice. After looking at the BBB rating (F) I was wondering if anyone on this board has info on this dealer or the car thay have for sale before I make the trip.

if it sounds too good to be true...

See if you can get the price e-faxed to you in writing? Nothing worse than making a long trip and they think they have you since you traveled a fair distance only to find out someone is lying... Great idea checking their rating, you should speak the sales manager, if that's not who have already made the deal with, and go over everything top to bottom.

Would be a bummer if that 'too good to be true price' was only through their bank and they are gonna try and pork you with a silly high interest rate. They can play all sorts of games... Also verify the car doesn't already have like 900 miles on it cause every sales weasel there has been allowed to beat on it for a week or so before they sell it...

Make sure your BS detector is on!

Caveat Emptor!

I'm not planning on financing the car so no interest rate problems for me. Having the dealer not honor the deal is a concern for me, not so much the cars condition, although that is something to look out for. There seems to be several Boss 302's for sale in the area so competition might play a role in the price.

I was in there last Thursday and they DIDN'T honor the deal for me that was listed on Cars.com and Autotrader. Let me guess, just under 36,000 bucks right?

They'll bull**** you that the website defaults the price on that car and that there was no way to account for the "Boss" features. Bull****. Besides, the dealership was a hole-in-the-wall, ghetto place with managers cursing on the phone to people.

Just forget them. Seriously. I mean, hell go for it if you want, but they told me they'd honor the price too and then when it came to sign they said "Oh wait, we can't go below $40,000."

Sounds like an opportunity to record their offer on the phone with a lawyer listening in and then bring the hammer down to teach em a lesson.

I believe thats one of 2 Baltimore area dealers that had a price listed under 36,000. I figured that was a ploy to drum up interest. The price they agreed to was their new price of 40,364. Did you get a chance to look at the car? How was it?

Seemed okay. No issues. However, I didn't drive it. I just looked at it, sat in it, and started it up.

As long as you know they're not dropping below $40,000 go for it if you're happy at that price. I still say the dealership itself is crap.

Thanks for the input. I'm fine with the price as I can't find a dealer anywhere by me to even go below the full msrp. I feel a little better about taking a chance. Also there is another dealer in the area, DarCars Ford, that has 2 boss 302's listed at 41,575, so if they stiff me I still might not go home empty handed.

Sounds good, man. If you're not financing with them or trading a car in then I say go for it because then you won't have to deal with the dealership much.

How far away are you from here? Maybe if you get it we can cruise in our two race red 302s sometime, haha.

Jerry Springer does the ads for Liberty Ford if that tells you anything. If you are interested in the one at Koons Ford of Baltimore I know the sales manager and could ask him his price.
