High RPM Gear Lock Out on 2013 Boss 302
Hello all.
I got my got to have it green 2013 Boss last spring.
I instantly noticed not being able to get the car into 2 or 3 gear when the rpms were high. I did purchase the Blowfish adaptor and Whiteline bushing. It has help a lot but still not perfect. Still get the odd lock out here and there. I will probably purchase the Che K Member brace this summer. It has good reviews.
Any other advise.

It's not the shifter, it's the clutch.
Had the same problem with my car at the track shifting at high rpm's. The stock pressure plate finally exploded. I replaced it with a McLeod. End of problem

High RPM lockout is usually a result of the clutch. With the different clutch in the Boss I don't think it is as big of an issue but it happened to me maybe 20 or 30 times. I found that the longer my foot is on the clutch pedal the more likely I was to get high RPM lockout.
If I was able to get off the clutch as quickly as possible I wouldn't have it happen as frequently as if I had been moving a bit slower if that makes sense. It is hard to explain but that has always been my experience with it.

What are the best clutches besides Mcloed ? I don't plan to do anything to the motor as far as mods so I don't need a super duty clutch for high torque or hp. Just want it to shift smooth and not be so finicky.

When changing a clutch you may as well do all of it while it's taken apart. Clutch, pressure plate, throw out bearing\slave cylinder, clutch line, flywheel.
Complete kits vary in price from $400 upwards to $2000 depending upon what type you get. Check out websites like American muscle.com or hyper motive.com.
Labor may vary greatly. Dealerships will charge for more than an independent mechanics. I live in California and found a great deal at $400 installed. Albeit that is not normal though. I would imagine it would take a professional mechanic over four hours to install completely.

I saw the two others you have mentioned on CJ Pony Parts and AM. Ya the Mclead was big $$$, not needed. Ya I was going to do the works why it is apart if I do it. I am going to try the Che K member brace first then I will go from there. The Che brace is also good for stiffening the car up too. Ok well thx for the extra knowledge. This won't happen till this summer. Fingers crossed.

Go to JPC Racing. Their price on clutch and flywheel kits really can't be beat and I think one of their codes from SVT Performance would still work on that kit.
If you call up and speak with Aaron or Eric over there they are really friendly and will get you all setup for your needs. With the McLeod clutches you have the RST which is street driving and some road racing/ autocross while the RXT is mainly used for drag racing and if you are making some serious power and you need the clutch to hold. The only issue with the twin disc clutches is that by their design they will have some chatter when sitting and idling but nothing that would drive me insane. Some other people hate it while others don't mind it at all.
They also sell their Black clutch line upgrade which is pretty nice and stupid easy to install. For the $55 it is worth it IMO.

Spec Stage 2+ @$422 and MGW cured my lockout at rev limit problem. Previous Barton & Blowfish worked sometimes not always.

Ok cool . I always thought it was that crappy remote shifter torquing under load and throwing it out of geometry. Ya the Blowfish Adp. has worked somewhat but defiantly not perfect still. I still get the odd lock out and grind. I am sorta pissed that Ford let this **** go and didn't fix it. I love the car but this shifting crap is irritating. Thx fking 1

This is really the fix. There have been articles written that the Transmission in the Mustang is good it is the linkage that is terrible and the race Spec takes care of that.
