heard something interesting about track key

this may be total BS, but it sort of makes sense to me. i heard this from a well placed source that i cant name. this source told me that track key was being held up not by carb but because ford was trying to patent a part of the tune functionality. the same source also said that it had stemmed from tuners making cammed tunes. the gist of it was that ford is trying to patent launch control or another fucntionality of the tune so tuners can't tune that into aftermarket offerings like they are the ghost cam stuff. supposedly they had a patent hearing April 20 and i guess it didn't make it so they are trying again. no idea if this is factual, anyone else heard anything similar to this?

yeah, that's what this person said, that the patent was very hard to get because it was a functionality, like i said, may be total bs.

I agree and we need to end the rumors. I've heard from a very reliable source that CARB is the only thing holding up TracKey and that it will be here by the end of July if not sooner. You can take that to the dealer.

Ford already has a patent for the red key concept. I dont think they are concerned about tuners applying a tune to the Boss 302 or any other Mustang. Ford has been very willing to allow tuners to develope their own tunes for Mustang engines.

OK. LOL #1 for today. I think at some point we need to evaluate some really hideous color combos!

Question- Does the PCM have a service port like my 99 PowerStroke? I've had a multi program, multi position swtich on it for years and years now. I can change programs at wide open throttle. I've got a high idle 1400 RPM program to warm it up in the winter. Can we get the same type of setup for a Boss?

See this link for a 16 position chip setup. 16 programs switched on the fly. Throw the red key in the top drawer of your dresser and forget about it if this kind of technology is applicable to our cars...

All they have to do to protect anything is apply for the patent before commercializing it.

If were a patent issue, we can expect to see the track key in 2015.
