It is kind of funny, don't even have the car yet but without the trackey, it would be like getting a toy car for Christmas when I was six WITHOUT the batteries

My Boss should be at my dealer by the end of the week. I ask my dealer about the track key and they said it would come with it. I told them about what I had read, that they had to have the software. They went to checking into it and now are scratching there heads. Suppose to be finding out what is required. Would call when they got some info.

Agreed. I just got a note from my dealer that they talked to Ford Racing today and the TracKey is not available yet and there's NO ETA! I wonder if that's what is holding up the cars? Wouldn't think so since it's after-market, but it isn't really going to feel like a Boss without the TracKey.

It will still be a 444hp Boss, with or without the TracKey. I'll gladly take delivery without the software being immediately available, I'll just go for the TracKey download when the dealer gets it. Until then, maybe the idle won't be so lumpy and maybe the launch control will have to be done by my two feet, but a Boss is a Boss.

And the torque curve will be low at the low end. I'll still take delivery and still break it in, but it's been a big part of the hype and certainly will make a big difference on how the car "feels" and responds to driver inputs. I can't imagine I'll ever use launch control. You're correct that's what your feet are for

Can anyone find the link on Ford Racing's site to get this info?

Not at all happy about this. I went for a Q1 car to have it for this track season. Living in the North, it's a short season Apr-Oct. I don't care about CARB. It's one of the upsides of living with crappy weather for 5 months of the year.

Some of us care about CARB. With CA having over 10% of the US population that means approximately 10% of Boss cars will be sold here. I'm sure they will get it together. At least we have some new info. Note what the dash info states "track use only". Right

Not trying to be insensitive Rick. It's just that there are a number of things you have to be willing to put up with to live in CA to enjoy the mostly year round nice weather. Since 90% of us don't have to deal with CARB, it's just frustrating that they would hold it up for us. Hopefully it won't take until mid-summer and they're just covering themselves......

I didn't take it that way. Seriously this stinks. Why has Ford waited this long? Do the other tunes that FRPP sells have to pass CARB? This should have been ready the day the cars were delivered. Hopefully they are stating Summer to lower expectations so it's easy to exceed those expectations.

Just give it to the rest of us who aren't affected by CARB.

I thought the reason it wouldn't be part of the original sale was because of emission concerns. Now that it apparently has to pass CARB, why can't TracKey come from the factory?

Summer 2011 is stated on the PR handout that was printed in 2010. Maybe the mid year date only applies to California sales.
