Getting a baseline dyno

What rpm should I have them run the engine to? 7600 or higher?

factory setting is 7500rpm. I would not go above that.

suspension...no dought about it! More HP is useless if the supension cant handle it. let alone how the car will handle.
Main thing is you have to know what you want to do with your Boss... Road coarse, autox, Drag race or just a street machine. That will define how you should spend your money.
You should jump over to BMO http://bossmustangsonline.com/boss-302-general-forum/ and ask those guys for expert guideance. They will not steer you wrong when it comes to racing.

Do you have the Trackey tune? In cool weather a stock Boss puts down about 384hp stock, and about 392hp Trackey with open side exhausts. All depending on the Dyno of course...

Hp levels out around 6800 so there isn't much point in going beyond 7000 stock.

Well that's not true because my dyno sheet shows HP still climbing when they left off at 7600.

Thats because the 2012 has a better engine and is faster than the 2013.......

Just kidding>>>>relax

However tek302 is correct. the Boss does make power above 6800rpm. According to other people it can make power up to 8000rpm.

Yeah... wasn't that the perk of a Boss engine?.. to continue making power till redline? I haven't ever dyno'ed mine though...

True, it continues making power past 7K but it stops increasing. I told Shaun I didn't plan on running it that high, to which he replied, "But at least you know you can." My car had about 2000 miles on it at that point. At the end of the session he said, "Well, your engine's broken in now."

Is it a secret of what your Boss made in horse power and TQ. you ask question here and everyone is happy to give you an honest answer and you leave us with no results. Just a graph on a peice of paper. How do I know thats even your Boss, or a boss at that.
Enjoy your results what ever they may be!

405 baseline, 412 tuned on 91 octane with no mods. As you can see power doesn't fall off at all between 6900 and 8000 but it is not increasing. I have yet to see a Boss graph where power continued building to the redline. My only point was that if all you want to know is your baseline power 7K will tell you that. Running it to the redline is fine but the number will be the same. The OP asked if he should run it beyond 7600. Without a tune you'll hit the rev limiter before that so the question is moot.

Here is another interesting test conducted by 5.0 Magazine. They compared the silver and red keys with the factory intake and the Airaid Parnelli Jones unit with the venturi tube inserted.
