Gas filler door does not lock!

Just a heads up. The filler door does not lock but you can buy a locking gas cap for the filler pipe. Word to the wise.

All garage all the time! You need a special funnel or something made up like a station gas nozzle to access the tank, not that crooks can't make one but most are lazy.

I agree garage all the time. But I'm using mine as a daily driver as well. Just want to know if folks that have the car are concerned.

You mean, you Texas horse riders/drivers don't carry one of these, for your horse feed(Mustang) protection? I do!

Not all areas of CA are liberal strongholds. Remember where Reagan announced his presidential campaign? Austin is probably a lot like Laguna Beach.

I totally see the connection between gas filler doors and Austin.

Nothing like a Vaquero in .45LC to help protect your Boss/Hoss.

One salient point to all of this is that you do need a special funnel to use a gas can on your Boss. I was filling cans for the track when it occurred to me that I might not be able to actuate the metal flange in the fill tube with the plastic gas can nozzle. I thought I was going to have to fabricate something with plastic or rubber tubing when I talked to my dealer and found out there's a specially designed funnel in your flat repair kit.

The plastic funnel is a flimsy affair. You may want to buy a few backups.

steal'n Gas

My Brother-in-law works at Ford in the Gas tank group. The design today makes it pretty difficult to siphon gas from today's cars. However, that dosen't stop some idot from Freak'en up your car trying to do it. So, if its will be in an area that may invite idots, a Locking cap is a cheap way to discourage that activity!!

The filler door has been this way for all Mustangs starting with the 2010 model year. As mentioned, the design is supposed to be such that siphoning is difficult to do.

Not concerned so much about siphoning which may damage the seal. More concerned about someone dumping some crap into the filler neck.

Do you use locking caps on all of your vehicles?

Don't need them on the FX-35 and Miata; both are internal release or must unlock all doors.

This thread really has me puzzled. My Jeep doesn't even HAVE a filler door. So you're just concerned about vandalism? I'd be a lot more worried about getting keyed, etc. Do people randomly open up fuel doors and dump stuff down the pipe?

It wasn't terribly long ago that you were concered with siphoners, and yes, people dumping things into the tank.

It stopped mostly for a while.

But with gas being what it is, and people being the suck that they are, locking caps are an excellent idea...

/...to get your tank drilled out. If someone wants gas...
