Fuel Consumption: Not a complaint!

I did not buy my car to be an econo box but I have been watching my mileage in my Boss vs. my '10 GT I traded in and the best I have gotten is 13.9...mostly town driving.

What are you guys getting?

My auto GT with a 4.6 really did do pretty well around town...much better than I ever expected.

My Boss is getting what I expected, no surprises.

First two tanks 24.5 MPG using the gas station receipts to calculate the actual mileage. Mixed used but mostly highway. 1/2 through 3rd tank mostly local driving but best guess will still be 20+.

Don't feel bad, I haven't seen anything over about 15. 7.5 on the track.

Are you doing the math your self or going by the computer? My computer has ranged from 16 to 19 MPG. My math has ranged from 17 to 20 MPG. One thing is for sure, you don't get very far on a tank of gas.

When crude oil is cheap (below $90 per barrel) I suggest buying the ETF OIL to hedge your fuel costs. Sell it when everyone is complaining about the cost of a gallon of gas.

Or, hedge with ETF USL.
I'm getting 15 on my first tank. With the exhaust plates out I can't keep off the gas pedal. I get about the same in the 427R.

I did! Of course when you've been driving the Exxon Valdez for the past 12 years and nearly 300,000 miles at 14 mpg ANYTHING is an econo box!

Now have almost 1200 miles on the car. Got 20.4 MPG at 80 MPH on a trip to Austin from Houston. During break-in, with lots of heavy right foot only got about 11-13 MPG. Smile factor was huge; it's a trade off. Agreed, fuel tank is too small but that's a weight factor for the serious track folks.

Ditto. Getting close to 1200 miles myself. During break-in I was seeing about 12.4. I've settled in around 14.6 for the last tank, and with this latest fill up I'm seeing how conservative I can be in my around town driving (hard to do with all that fun on tap!), but I'm into the 15's now anyway. During my trip from Abilene to Wichita Falls on empty backroads, I avg'd 20mpg @ 90mph over 130 mile stretch.

Mileage correction. I pulled my first two gas receipts. FYI, I was with the dealer when they filled up the car. We had a discussion about what type of gas so we pulled out the owners manual and spotted the Big 87 so regular was put in.

Tank 1 305.9 miles / 12.743 gallons added until auto pump stop = 24.005336 MPG
Tank 2 266.4 miles / 11.350 gallons added until auto pump stop = 23.471365 MPG

I will continue to monitor the performance of every tank of gas as I have will all of my cars for many years.

Dunno why, but for some reason I thought I'd get better mileage with the Boss than my supercharged 5L pushrod motor in my '87 Cougar. The Boss does weigh 175 lbs more than my old Cougar. Yes, the same Cougar I get teased about for being a luxobarge - has every option Ford ever put in a car back then (electric everything, climate control etc.).

I've only been driving around town and the highest I've seen on the computer is 13.6.

Yep convertible '64 factory V8 car. My mom's cousin bought it new and my dad bought it from him in about '84. Dad and I rebuilt a 289 in '88 and I converted it to a four speed manual in about '93. It's probably got 350,000 miles on it!
