Found the source of my burning smell after driving...
Sort of.
I have this faint burning smell whenever parking the car after driving, some other posts on here said it might be factory rust inhibitor burning off or something so I didn't think too much of it.
Well earlier this week I notice a very small puddle or residue on the garage floor. Initially I thought it was just condensation from the AC compressor or something, so I didn't look at it too close, but tonight I jacked up the car and found this:
Pretty sure it's transmission fluid. It's the color of enigne oil, but there is nothing anywhere on the engine or upper bellhousing. The engine oil level is exactly where it should be. Only on the transmission back, all the way to the trans crossmember, and all over the driver's side exhaust and heat shields (hello burning smell!) Looks like it is coming from the top or upper driver's side of the trans itself
Looks to be coming down from the top of the trans, it is all over the driver's side of the trans and the DS exhaust.
Looks like I'm headed to the dealer this weekend to have them pull my transmission out...
Anyone else that has a faint burning smell after driving should take a look under their car ASAP.
Edit:
It might be this:

As far as the trans he showed me where the fluid was leaking out the vent tube on top of the tranny. I let them know that the trans was hard to shift into 2nd when cold and they said they will be replacing the gear oil per a TSB, and making sure the level is correct. They said we will watch the vent for futher leakage.
Great service for a really dumb issues...

OK so replacement part failed to arrive today, dealer is now telling me that the part number has changed and won't be available until Mid-September.
I've instructed them to put my car back together and get it back to me tonight....ugh
Update: The dealer is unwilling to release the car...they are looking into getting me a loaner now. Looks like I'm going to miss the track event, and be without my BOSS for the next 3 weeks until the part becomes available.
So far, between this and my flat tire debacle on day 1 of ownership, I have been able to drive my car about 13 days out of 25 that I have owned it (just over 50% of the time).
This ****ing sucks.
PM has already been sent to FCS for help

Have not yet tracked the car, but I am set to go to INDE Motorsports Ranch w/ ProAutoSports (link in sig) on Labor Day Weekend. Just ordered my NT01s today...got brake pads and fluid on the way now...
Then FIR Mondo track (FIR Main + Bondurant combined) at the end of September.
Then FIR Main in November.
Then FIR West in December.
I am VERY excited to get this car on the track and see if I can best my previous lap times that I put down in our competition car last year. She feels VERY quick; hopefully I can get this issue w/ the trans. resolved quickly.

Bought from Sanderson in Glendale. They have been very good to me from an experience and help perspective, so I think I will take her back there for the warranty work, despite it being 35 miles away one-way.
Plus I don't want some jerkoff tech from one of the closer dealers balling up the car on a "test drive".

I have some contacts up there as well but they are even farther for me. Thanks for the reco, however.
Maybe I will see you at a ProAutoSports event in the future? I or one of the other Mustang-oriented instructors would be happy to show you the ropes if you're new to open-track events.
I haven't run with NASA in a couple years but I might check them out again in '12.

I have had a few problems at berge. I posted a few years ago that the tech changing a wheel bearing on my 06 gt vert did not put the brakes back together right and it wrecked the wheels and some parts on the car while on the freeway. Camelback ford and peoria ford are evil.
I have not worked with santan ro sanders but hear good things.

San Tan is very close to me but I have no experience with them. Earnhardt is very close to my work, but they wouldn't budge off of a $5k MSRP markup when I was trying to order a car so they can suck it if they think they're going to bill any service hours to Ford for work on my car.
