FORD - The Transmission wiring harness is starting to melt!
The wiring harness running next to the transmission on passenger side is beginning to melt as it is too close to the CAT and unprotected from the extreme heat of the exhaust. 2500 miles and approximately 4 hours of track time. Based on what I see this harness will be toast before the warranty expires.
Anyone else seen this?

I only have 600 miles and one track day but I will check mine tomorrow!
Thanks for the heads up...if I recall right they had some issues with this on the pre-production cars during testing...

Had mine on the lift today and no sign of any melting on the harness. Over 3400 miles on it. One day of SCCA solo, but no real road racing yet. I am installing the trans cooler scoop tomorrow which might help that issue if you have not installed it all ready. Headed to Nelson Ledges this coming Friday. I will check again after that.

I added the pic of the worst section on the harness. Hard to get a camera into the area to get a clear pic. What you will notice first is a 'flattening' of the harness conduit on the side facing the CAT.
I was pretty hard on the car at the track with engine spending a lot of time at 6k+ rpm. Engine overheating on several occasions (250F) according to the ODB monitor software.
Keep an eye on this guys ...

Did it look like it was physically contacting the cat/exhaust? Can we just zip tie it out of the way a little farther away?
Quick fix alternative might be to wrap it in Dynamat...not elegant or OEM but should work.

Haven't talked to the dealer yet.
The tape wrapped around the harness is falling off due to the heat.
In general the harness rests next to the transmission so doesnt' get much closer to the CAT. There is an attacment point that the harness was apparantly taped to but the tape just unwrapped and the whole thing came loose. Perhaps under hard LH turns it might swing out towards the CAT but I don't think very much.
This issue could easily be solved by wrapping the harness in an insulation jacket like Dynamat or increasing the reach of the CAT metal heat deflector.
