First track day after the Track Attack
I went to Buttonwillow for a performance driving clinic that is run by the club that owns the track this past Saturday. The ambient temperature in the afternoon hit 97 degrees (according to the display in the car). In the morning, the track was split into 2, with the East Loop (which was more technical) for the first timers and the West Loop for returning drivers. In the afternoon, the tracks were combined into 1 (config #25).
To prepare for the day, I swapped out the pads (front and rear) to Hawk HP+ and flushed out the brake fluid to ATE Super Blue. I also mounted a fire extinguisher, using the passenger seat bolt locations. I set the shocks at 5 in the front and 4 in the rear, like how they were set at the Track Attack. I should have tried 5 in the rear, once I got more comfortable on track. I'd say I started the day at 6/10 and ended the day at 7/10. The brakes felt good, never faded, but I never pushed them too hard. I could have taken some corners much deeper, but I'll save that for later track days. Had I not done the Track Attack 2 weeks ago, I would have been even more careful.
I kept an eye on the dummy temperature gauge throughout the day. I was mostly in 4th and 3rd gears, and short-shifting into 4th at times when I saw the needle close to the last marker on the gauge. It would drop pretty quickly once I was in 4th. I did notice a little difference in throttle response compared to the Track Attack cars, which had the Track Key software active. Overall, it was a fun day, and I'm looking forward to my next track day. And I don't think I made a total fool of myself, with the only cars passing me were an M3, Z06 and ZR1. Oh, and there was a race-prepped Miata that passed me in the morning. I'd like to think I was still warming up…

Thanks for the info. I'll be at TA next week and hope to have my first track day Sept. 24/25. Did you install the brake cooling ducts or trans cooling scoop? Running stock tires? Which mount are you using for your phone?

To mount the phone, I used these 2 things:
Cleat mount - This thing is solid!

I also mounted a fire extinguisher, using the passenger seat bolt locations.

I did not install the brake cooling ducts. I had the trans cooling scoop, but ran out of time to install it. I was running stock tires. I am looking to have a set of wheels/tires just for the track, but I couldn't decide what to get.

For my first track day I'll leave my car stock other than changing the brake fluid. I want to see what the car is like stock.
I'll ask next week but I'm curious why MMP is not running the rear shocks on 5 since that's what the Boss supplement suggests.
I know where to order the mount but where did you get your fire extinguisher?

Nice vids Warren, needed to see something since I have not been on the track for over 72 hours now (shut it Gary, I'm not addicted)
Tires are a tough one, I am staying with the NT05's for now. They stick good when warmed up.

EDIT: Oh, if you're going to track attack, you should be getting a pair of gloves at the end of the day (they were the same ones that I had ordered).

The LS supplement recommends 5 up front and 4 in the rear.

From your previous post where you cut and pasted the MMP mods they did not change the suspension. If they were going to do that why not just order 10 Boss LS cars?

With the camber plates in and my patented fast in - sideways out method of cornering, I went to setting 4 in the back. It seemed to help some since I was oversteering all day at Homestead.
