has he taken delivery of the cars yet? if not he will have a major eye opener when he tries to. a local man won a shelby gt in a raffle from the ford dealer a few years bak went to pick it up and the taxes and all on the car before he could get it was about $10k. he coudlnt afford it and the dealer ended up taking the car to the auction, selling it for him, taking out the taxes, and giving him what was left. when you win a car it's not show up and drive off.

This contest was valid in Canada too, so the tax would be covered by the supplier if the winner travels to pick it up. I assume he will need to pick up directly from Ford. They will write it off as a charitable promotion, tax exempt.

i have no idea, BUT the raffle i am talking about was for charity too. you have to pay taxes no matter what, but canada may have different rules. the really effed up part was the guy couldnt even take the car and save up for the taxes, it had to be paid before the cars left.

I just knew I was going to win them. Yes Shane, these were tax free, a new incentive they added this year. I've bought tickets for the last few they've had, the two Shelbys (67 GT500 and a 2010 GT500) and the two Corvettes (67 427 vert I think, and a 2010 ZR1) and still no luck. Its for a good cause though. http://www.healingheroes.org/

A good friend kicked a field goal at a Raiders game during halftime and won a Kia SUV. It depreciated so much during the 50 mi drive home that he owed more than it was worth. Ten years later his wife still drives it LOL.

that is so cool. im so glad it was some young guy too. good idea about selling them; i think i'd do the same thing (but instead of investing the 200k I'd buy a GT3 and then put the rest in the bank, lol).
might be a good set to sell at Barrett Jackson?

The US lotteries where you have to kick in the tax dont usually allow for Canadian entries. The exceptions being lottery tickets and casino wins. We have to pay tax at source then apply to get it back. As a result most of the seemingly cool opportunities to win stuff in the US excludes us. Lotteries can be set up to state, national, national plus Canadian excluding Quebec, or international laws. Each step is more costly and involved for the organizer.
