2006stiguy we're just having a little fun with you. Your Boss will be fine and I'm sure you'll be happy with it when you get it back.

Thanks...hopefully we will get this sorted out soon. Maybe the motors still tight as it only has about 600 miles on it

The mods I am doing are usually worth 25-30 hp on a GT right?? So I was hoping so similar if not better gains on the Boss with the better heads, cams, etc

To me the car sure feels like it has 400hp to the wheels

Hum, 444hp - 20% = 360 , 444hp - 15% = 377
And mustang dynos read 5% lower than other dynos so that numbers dosen't seem that far off if the motor is really only making 444hp.

You are right iirc. I am just disappointed as i thought the car would make more power stock than the GT and it doesn't...the GT is WAAAY underrated and the Boss maybe rated correctly. Anyway I guess the main difference is the fact that the power is way high in the rev range which is better for the track.

I don't know. 360RWHP on a Mustang Dyno isn't necessary low. Maybe Evo is changing there habits and reporting numbers more accurately.

Jeff I was thinking along the same lines and ran some similar calcs. I think a 20% driveline loss would be pretty big for a manual. Most of the manual driveline loss calcs say 15% but there are so many variables that affect that number, that it's not very reliable.

There is a lot of technical info on it. One sentence from this article may infer that the Torsen diff itself could be responsible for more driveline loss than a GT: http://www.modified.com/tech/modp-10...il-cooler.html

"In any drivetrain component with meshing gearsets, heat generated by contact friction between the gears is a significant contributor to drivetrain loss. This is true during steady-state driving, but is far more of an issue when the throttle is mashed to the floor and the resulting thrust force and angular acceleration builds up in these drivetrain components."

At the end of the day, my butt dyno says it's more than 360 at the tire, but I'm more worried about getting ready for the track than the dyno right now. After we get TracKey I'll get mine pulled, but I'm sure many others will have theirs on dynos before that.

Thumbs up

Forget all this dyno HP stuff... Many have seen big dyno numbers, quoted, but never add up to good numbers on a track. Dyno's are good TUNING tools, but the actual HP numbers, can all over the place.
We already know how quick a Boss can be, from that drag strip video!
Enjoy those cars guys!!

Judging a car solely by it's peak dyno numbers is like judging a woman only by her bra size; while it gives you some idea of what you're in for, it doesn't tell you if she's hot.

Definitely. We're talking about a car designed for road course performance, not shoving it as fast as we can down the 1/4 mile. Not that lap times won't benefit from more peak hp and tq, but it's pretty far down the list once you hit a certain point. Obviously it's more important to put the most possible power to the ground. Tire spin just slows you down whether on the street, road course or strip.

The more I drive the car, the more I see the reason for the TracKey tune. No matter who tunes the car, it seems that bringing up the lower end torque will provide the greatest improvement in lap times. I just got back from banging around onto some higher speed interstate entrance ramps where the entries were about 60 degree right handers. Best I can tell there's a hole in the torque curve somewhere up to 4,000-4500 RPMs. That means lugging some out of corners or more shifts. Both of which will cost you time. WE WANT TRACKEY!, WE WANT TRACKEY!
