Enkei PF01s in Matte Black
Just got some more boxes yesterday. My second set of Enkei PF01s in 18 x 9.5 and 18 x 10.5. They now have the rears in matte black so no painting required
My other set was painted gloss black, so I'm anxious to see what these will look like with new shoes and mounted on the car. Unfortunately we just got 6" of snow so I'll be waiting a while.

. They sell for around $380 each plus UPS. Sam Strano carries these so maybe you guys could hit him up for a group buy. Actually they save 11 lbs per corner over the factory LS wheels! They weigh in at 20 and 21 lbs respectively.
Last year I ran Nitto 555RII 305/35/18 rears and 285/35/18 fronts on my other set. On this set I'm going to run the following:
Hoosier R6 295/30/18 & 275/35/18
Toyo R888 305/35/18 & 275/35/18
Depending on results for both lap times and durability, I'll choose one or the other. Last year the 555RIIs were relatively cheap and I was getting a set for just over $1000 shipped. The R888s were up in the R6 range around $1500. Now it looks like the 555RIIs have gone up and the R888s have gone down so I'll probably try them first.

Have you ran these Enkeis compared to any other wheels on track, and can you tell a difference in the unspring weight on each corner?
On my V I picked up a set of 2 piece rotors that were about 5lbs lighter than the OEM rotors, and could not tell one ounce of difference compared to the OEM rotors in terms of unspring weight.
I'm just curious if that weight savings can really be felt by the seat-of-the-pants.

I ran the 302S wheels (Laguna Seca wheels with machined face) last year along with the Enkeis. I ran R6s on the 302S wheels and Nitto 555RII on the Enkeis. They were about dead even in terms of lap times but the Enkeis "felt" better, probably somewhat due to the wider track, but also "felt" better in the braking zones. The Hoosiers "should" have been 2 seconds faster. On a 3600 lb car, it's hard to say precisely how much is attributed to the wheels alone since I also have 2-piece rotors that are 8 lbs less per side and r-comp tires that weigh less than the street tires. All totaled, that's almost 100 lbs of rotating mass off the car and that IS significant.
There was an article by grassroots motorsports on light weight wheels and track times. They chose the lightest vs the heaviest on a miata with a 12lb difference per corner. Surprisingly the heavier wheels had a better track time consistently. Although minute it was very counter intuitive. His was actually their second test and the results were nearly the same.
So clouds findings are pretty parallel with the mag test. The feel of the car felt lighter and more predictable but the lap times were nearly unaffected. Mind blowing to me....
On my last car I had 18lb wheels vs 31lb wheels with the same offset width and tires in the same 19". My quarter mile times remained the same but my trap was consistently 1mph faster with the heavier wheel, most likely bc of the stored up kinetic energy. But the the car felt like i had lost an equivalent to a passenger in the car. It felt so much more nimble and toss able but drifts were harder to control with the lighter wheels as well

It defies logic. Lighter is faster no matter whether it's sprung or not. Why else would classing rules have power to weight ratios? Why would race teams strive to reduce every ounce, let alone pound, if relatively speaking lighter cars weren't faster?
To me ..... not tracking yet but, a 30 year aircraft mechanic....the biggest difference in unsprung weight reduction will be noticed in brake pad wear / shock and suspension components....much less pounding going on ..... much less inertia force to slow down....your brakes dont have to work quite as hard...meaning longer longevity....cooler temps for the same amount of work...lighter has got to be better,..... maybe not in lap times but on your equipment.

I was wondering if there were any issues with the ABS going with the 18" wheels. Is the overall wheel height lower on the 18's? Also, are those 302s wheels much lighter than the standard boss wheels? Thanks.
