Dyno: Stock 2012 Boss 302 406whp

Bone stock Boss 302, side disks removed, 6700 miles, 93 e10 gas.
Looks like the stock knock sensor is really messing with the curve pulling timing.

Sorry, my rotate pic button in webshots is not working.

I'm assuming the knock sensor stuff you mentioned is what the waviness of the graph is above 5000RPM?

I would be ecstatic if mine put down 400whp on a dynojet. Too hot in AZ right now to waste money on a dyno pull, though.

Best Boss Dyno number I've seen and way above my own. I was actually disappointed with mine, but then again as I can break the rear-end away in any gear do I really need more?

Question

Just a comment...
Not SAE corrected and with what ever is going on at the high end is not a true peak measurement.
It bounces so much that IMO the accuracy is questionable.
I would find out exactly what is causing the bounce. It might not be the knock sensors.

Yes it was SAE corrected. Its just a dyno number, only a reference point for me to compare track key to reg key, and future mods. I think I have one of the most broke in Boss's that have been on the dyno though. I have 6700 miles, 2 autox, and about 4hrs open track time. I think this will be typical once they break in.

dont worry , mine will catch up, i have had it barely over 2 weeks and it has 2500 miles on it. Hit 392 dyno stock and with a JLT intake 401, before any mods 12.5 at 114MPH on the stock tires... my numbers were pretty smooth across the board.

hoping when i get the long tubes and 3 inch exhaust get some better numbers and track times

Mine should dyno about 480 then 5239 miles, 1850 (18 hours) on track.

Interesting that these two cars dynoed so high compared to most of the others I've seen posted. Must just be a reflection of how much the dynos vary, SAE corrected or not.

I seen some kid dyno 435/400 with a SCT tune, K&N, Borla axle back. So take the #'s with a grain of salt.

I'll agree with most of this.

I have a hard time trusting Dyno Shops that don't list temp, humidity, DA, correction factor and so on. The correction factor used can influence the final #'s. This would mean you're putting out 460 or so at the crank.

The torque looks to be right where I would expect it. So the higher HP is questionable in my mind. The waviness of the higher RPM's for HP and TQ makes me think something wasn't right with the dyno machine. I've not seen that before on a properly functioning dyno.

Now you very well may be putting down 406HP. There are always "factory freaks" that perform better than others. But that graph is just funky looking. Probably the Dyno Machine being confused about your Mustang being on a Dyno with "Corvette" listed in the shop name.

The chart picture shows that it was done on Standard correction, not SAE (lower left corner of print out).
In my experience, Standard tends to give numbers about 2 to 3% higher than SAE.

Wow. You guys even bash your own.
It's totally believable that one can put 400 to the wheels and another identical Boss will only put down 360 or so. I've heard of some shelbys putting down close to 600 and are only rated at 550 crank. Hand built motors will vary. No 2 motors produced are identical. Sounds like dude got a good one and some of you guys don't measure up. Besides, 600 is the new 300.
