Drove a 2012 Shelby, my thoughts
Let me start by saying when I had purchased my Boss I intended to buy a Shelby Gt500, but honestly I couldn't find one that wasn't totally loaded, Everyone I found was mid 50s or more and I definitely didn't have that kind of cash.
Well I've owned my Boss for 1 year this week and this past weekend a friend wanted to trade cars for the road tour trip we were on.I was pretty excited because I always wondered if I made the right decision.
Well, it didn't help things at all. I really liked the Shelby and might even like it more then my Boss. The Shelby felt much more powerful and rode really nice.
Oh well ,love the Boss but I have a feeling I might be looking at trading it in on a used Shelby...

A friend of Mine just bought a 12 shelby, lots of power but I prefer my boss over all, better ride and just a better feel to the boss imo, hard to compare the two I think, both mustangs but totally different animals
Personally, I don't think you can wrong with either one.
They're both unique in their own rite and we all should be extremely thankful that both cars even exist.
Just my thoughts on the matter.-------Bill

I trade my 2012 Shelby GT 500 SVT for my Boss. The Shelby was fun, but didn't enjoy it nearly as much as the Boss. Radio was better and it had a great nav system. Thats about it. As for sound,I roll the windows down and downshift. And the nav.... well Bing maps works just fine for me orI can use my wifes Garmin if necessary. LOVE my Boss!
About the only advantage I can see to putting a blower on the Boss is a little weight advantage - but thats just a guess, slapping a blower on the road-runner engine might get it uncomfortably close to the 5.8 trinity's weight.

Nah. A centrifugal or roots set up isn't that heavy if weight distribution is the issue. Power to handling is perfect in the stock boss but I am calling the power WEAK. I dont buy mustangs because they handle like Indy cars. I want a nearly uncontrollable monster. Yes I want to fight the thing the whole way around the track. Otherwise it just seems boring to me.
However you highlight what makes the Boss so good in terms of handling, its a very balanced car compared to the GT500 and doesn't overwhelm the tires and suspension like the GT500 does.
Like any great recipe, throw in to much of any ingredient and its all of a sudden out of whack.
Although I do agree with you, the GT500 has its own personality and a great ride in its own right. You might not be able to hammer it around a turn, but get that nose pointed straight and drop the throttle and let that bastard pin you right back in the seat (best when served with the speed limiter off!) until you bounce off the rev limiter.
