Oops, my bad. I forgot to check for the 2012 model year. Yep, there are another 5 reports, none in July. That makes a total of 47.
That's odd, are you sure you added right

What's the problem?
Would that be a Preliminary Evaluation or an Engineering Analysis level investigation?

I must be blind, because when I check NHTSA's site for the latest defects investigations, there is nothing for Ford Mustang for either 2011 or 2012.

When I look at the previous months' listings of all makes and models for June, May, April, or March of this year, I can't find where the Mustang is listed.

Could you be so kind as to enlighten me with some useful links from the NHTSA website? (Other than the complaints listing, which I posted above)

Thanks!

Adding yes, dividing no.

The first complaint was made Sept. 11, 2010, 46 weeks ago. So that's an average of one per week, or 0.14 per day. The author regrets the error.

But 5 a day for so long should be a bit higher

1. The dates you are referring to are the incident dates as reported by the owner... Not the date the complaint was submitted.

2. Months went by with no complaints and they have been gradually increasing over the past few months. There is a database at AFM and there are 5 new reports posted on the NHTSA site today. They increased to 5 average a week over the past 5 weeks and only increased after owner's started reporting being contacted over the past 24 hours.

3. There are now 56 complaints... Many are filed incorrectly under different categories.

4. To put things into perspective, it should be noted that there are ZERO reports to the NHTSA for 2011 Challenger, Genesis, G37, 370Z, and Corvette. There are 2 reports for the Camaro but those are complaints about the brand of tires.

5. It should also be noted that AutoTrader currently lists 398 used 2011 manual transmission Mustangs for sale and 202 Camaros. Production of manual transmission-equipped Mustangs and Camaros for 2011 are very close according to camaro5.com.

1. Fair enough. however that doesn't change the fact that there are x complaints over the past 46 weeks. That average per day still stands. Why are we looking at the average?? See #2.

2. Note: "there are 5 new reports posted on the NHTSA site today" is NOT AT ALL the same statement as: "and now 5 reports to the feds a DAY", which implies an average. The latter statement is grossly untrue if there only has been ONE day when 5 complaints were filed.

3. Thanks for letting me know. Which are the other categories where these misfiled complaints are. I'll check those now and then again in a few days to see how many more there are - to vet your assertion of there being x new complaints a day.

4. Interesting - you mean that there isn't ONE complaint about the first Camaro trans tailshafts being as brittle as glass? You would think the sudden and permanent loss of drive capability would be considered a safety issue by someone.

5. Ok. Not sure if that's true, (Camaro5 isn't what I would consider a definitive source) nor ito what extent it is related to the MT-82.

6. You didn't respond to my other post about there being no open investigation. You mentioned engineers, according to NHTSA that would be the second phase of an investigation. There has been no first phase.

We have an owner now at AFM who had a transmission replaced and the new one is still grinding and locking him out of gear. Same boat as me and others. He contacted Ford Customer Relations looking for help when his dealer and Customer Care ran out of options and got the following voicemail message from Ford: (Download below)

Unbelievable.

so i heard through the grapevine that the dealership had print outs of posts ive made on this from my local stang clubs CLOSED Facebook group page. i expressed all the same concerns there that i did here and the dealership apparently used someone elses Facebook account to access the page and print out the conversation. i am so glad that i didn't take my car back there, never, ever again will i do anything at that dealership, my instinct that they were going to try and hose me was apparently very correct.

I am so lucky to have an outstanding service department (Sunrise Ford FL). These guys are overly helpful with any concerns. I did report the trans issue to Ford but I spoke with the SM before hand to let him know I was doing this. I also made it clear to Ford the dealer has been helpful but they do not have a fix to apply. The guys at the dealer appreciated the fact I contacted them prior to the report and this way we can maintain a good working relationship.

I guess it pays to be at a small privately owned dealer.

I haven't heard any unusual axle/transmission noise nor problems shifting. Since the side disks came out over 1500 miles ago I'm not sure I could hear any noise over the wonderful exhaust note in any case.

the noise is annoying, but the big deal to me is the sticking clutch pedal. Only happens on 3-4 shift at high rpm.

You may just have a bad clutch/brake pedal assembly. The pre-May 2010 builds had this issue and the solution was installation of the multi-spring GT500 assembly... which they use to this day.

I am going into the dealer tomorrow for the hard shifting into first issue while the car is at a stop and for the clutch pedal sticking to the floor. As both of these don't happen every time consistently it will probably be hard to show the technicians, though hopefully they should know what I am talking about. If they cant figure anything out I have the steeda tri-ax shifter, transmission bracket, and MTL fluid that I will swap in and see if that helps the shifting issue. I have also read that if you pop out the second spring on the clutch pedal it turns the clutch box into essentially the same unit that is in the GT500 and increases the clutch force from about 20 pounds to 35-38 pounds. Ill let you guys know how it goes.

Yea, I didn't realize that either until someone mention it on here.
