Dead Pedal

The Boss has no metal dead pedal; are people considering installing one? I see that Roush sells a set of four aluminum pedals for around $100. Also, does anybody with a mustang know if drilling is required to install a dead pedal?

I'll try to help a bit. I got the Steeda initially:

http://www.steeda.com/store/steeda-b...d-mustang.html

Wayyy too small, smaller than my forefoot, so sent it back, they charged me to restock it...

Then got this:

Which works okay (nice and large) but isn't very secured (doesn't screw in, presses through the carpet, horizontally).

So bought one I can't seem to find on Moss anymore, but believe is the match to my other pedals:

Have it at home, it's huge, bigger than my foot, and screws in, but haven't yet installed it. May do so this weekend, though, and will post some pics if I do.

They show a Cobra set in the picture but there doesn't seem to be an offer for the Cobra pedals in the order section. Odd. I really like the simplicity of the Cobra pedals. Cheaper than I expected too. I want some.

Those 'were' considered the GT500 pedals, and that dead pedal is also fairly small, bolts to the side wall just to the left of the carpeted dead pedal area.

I didn't get this one even though I had the OEM matching pedal covers already as they're too small, especially the accelerator pedal, so couldn't heel/toe properly. I switched out to the Moss ones above with the pony, and positioned the accelerator pedal as far laterally on the accelerator plastic piece before screwing it in. Now I have to concentrate to NOT hit the accelerator when hitting the brakes, maybe two inches max between them.
Also, the GT500 pedal covers are slip on (and easily slipped off) whereas these others have to be screwed in, seem much more secure.

The floor is raised in that area so, I don't know why a dead pedal would be needed.

Just for a little extra grip and to keep from wearing a hole in the carpet.

I didn't think about the wear.

The carpet can slide around alot if you're bracing yourself using that area, especially on the track. Plus, it's a nice match to the pedals, if you do it that way.

Josh, Did you get the pedals installed? I like to see a photo. I was thinking the gas and brake pedals needed to be closer for easier heal toe.

They do. I've been practicing heel/toe on the street with the Boss, but haven't had a lot of good opportunities. People freak out when you come into a 90 degree right hander at 40 and still miss them I'm going to have a little more time today, but it's going to be a whopping 33 degrees and just have a little doubt about those front tires holding their line. I'd be interested in a wider go pedal, but I need the flare at the top. I "toe out" so I use the outside of my right foot (small toe) for the blip. The pedal in the pic is for the more traditional heel/toe. Unfortunately, I just don't bend that way!

I use the same method as you. I was hoping that both the gas and brake were both oversize some to decrease the gap.

I don't know about Pirelli PZeros, but the Yokohams on my M3 loss a lot of grip when the temp drops below 50.

Yea I've got Yokohama Advan Sports on my GT500 and they are pretty slick below 40-50F. For some reason the Pirellis seem to do well even at 30.

I haven't yet, just too much to get done, but did snap these photos for you. The Moss item number isn't on their website anymore, but it might be that same Cobalt one I posted earlier:

Question for you guys with the CDC deal pedal. I purchased it but I'm wondering if it will raise my left foot too much. I'm 6'2" and my left foot rests easily on the raised floor board. Will the additional lift of the dead pedal lift my left foot into an uncomfortable position? TIA.

I am 6'3" and the CDC pedal works good for me. Pedal sits just over the carpet. And I also move the seat up a lot closer when I am tracking. I like to stay close to the wheel. Now I just need to do something with the go pedal so I can heel/toe easier.
