Post clearing up confusion on Ford engines "coyote" vs "Road Runner"

I would like to clear up confusion on this for future readers on this.
This is only the real intent.
The two engines are NOT the same but only similar. IE, the one in the GT (Coyote) and the one in the boss (Road Runner) are TWO different animals based of the same 302 base engine platform.

The commonly referred to Coyote in the GT:

The commonly referred Road Runner in the Boss 302:

Or in Ford Speak...........

Coyote = 5.0L 4V Ti-VCT V8 Engine (2011-12/412 hp with 390 ft-lbs torque, 2013/420 hp with 390 ft-lbs torque)

Roadrunner = Hi-Po 302 Ti-VCT V8 engine (444 hp with 380 ft-lbs torque)

I kind of like Hi-Po 302, it reminds me of the old "Hi-Po 289 from years gone by..............

I will need to verify this but I am sure the "ROADRUNNER" name didn't come from Ford but rather a magazine ........5.0 I think..........In Farr's book I thought the engine develpoment team said they didn't want to use roaddunner because of the ties with Plymouth..........so they used 757.......will report back on this later.

I was always under the impression that the Coyote was a "305" whereas the Boss is a 302? I know it's only 3 inches but I'm a stickler for details is all. Guess I'll check google...

So both are 302's then.. Kinda interesting that the Boss was brought back under that label when the stock bore was a 302 in the stock GT's. Ford, always taking conservative approaches and producing outstanding results on a calculated budget. I still appreciate my 281 everyday, even with less cubes and 100 less HP.

RoadRunner was used for the Boss engine. It wasn't '757' that was used, it was '747' that was the code name for the entire Boss project.

So now that the '13 GT is pumping out 420 does that make the Boss engine, the "not so much HiPo anymore 302"?

So now that the '13 GT500 is pumping out 650HP does that make the old GT500 engine, the "not so fast, fastest mustang"?
Where do you get this stuff?

Your confusing me as 444 hp is more than 420?
Are are you just being sarcastic? Which is fine too btw..

No worries. It has long secured its place in Mustang history like the 289 did.
And in terms of the 3V (S197), it continued the dynamic engineering of the SOHC "Cammer" as well.

I agree, I owned the first gen 4.6 (96) and that thing was bulletproof.
