Calling all recaro equipped boss owners! (seat review!)

I have sat in recaro seats before and loved them BUT I was wondering, how comfortable are they for daily driving? How about getting in/out of the car?

I had custom racing seats for awhile in my SVT Focus (go ahead, laugh!) for track days but the hip bolsters were so high it was a PAIN to get in/out of the car so I sold them.

I think I sat in a gt500 with these seats at the auto show last year but dont remember much about the seats themselves.

Reason I ask is I am stuck between a '12 GT base 6mt with 3.73 for 27,400 totally OTD (so 5k+ off sticker!)

OR getting a 2013 base GT with 3.73 and recaro's (500 option) for what I am estimating to be about 32,500 OTD (estimating 32,500 MSRP - X plan, plus T/T/L)

There are other benefits to the '13 (HID's, leather steering wheel, Sync, updated styling in the hood/wheels/tail)

If it were not for the recaro option + HID's I would for sure pull the trigger on the new leftover '12. The other '13 items are just bonuses. I guess im asking if your recaro seats + a set of HID's is worth 4500 bucks?

I was thinking I could throw some corbeaus in my '12 (about 1k) but someone pointed out I would lose my side airbags which im sure would tick off my insurance company.

The must haves for me are exhaust/intake/tune/tint. The '12 would make it much easier to get these mods but knowing how I operate, I will stop eating if I have to to get the mods done with the '13 lol.

Thanks for the help!

Seats are great for daily use. They are great for track use and auto-x. If you never plan on competing, I don't see a reason to get them; other than the "cool factor."

Thanks. How about getting in/out of the car? Its hard to tell from the few pictures I can google but it appears the side bolsters are not that high (ie, easy to get your butt over).

I was thinking along the same lines when considering the Recaro option for the Boss. I had corbeau CR1's in my 1999 GT, and while they were light years better than the factory leather seats for track use, they were a PITA to get in and out of for normal driving.

I took the plunge and bought my Boss with Recaros and am SOOOO glad I did! They are extremely comfortable. Great support all around including head and neck. Everyone who has sat in the car has commented positively on the seats. No issues getting in or out of the car. I'm 6'3", 220 lbs.

They work well for DD.
Very comfortable--2 day drive home when I bought it, and I've been on 6 hour road trips to tracks, and like them.
I slide the seat back to get the bolsters out of the way every time I get out. When I get in and slide the seat forward, I watch where the right edge of the seat back lines up with the center counsel to know I've got it in the correct place--piece of cake.
Some people are seeing wear on the seat edge where the seat belt slides by. I pull the belt straight forward then across. At 5,500+ miles, my seat appears ok.
If you plan to track or autocross, they are very nice. Although dedicated race seats are even better if you take the games up a notch.

You fat ba... Heh, j/k!! I'm 6'3" and now after Xmas, 250, where I should be ~225! I have a long torso, as my inseam is only 32-34, depending on the brand of pants, and I fit just fine in the Recaros. Checked out this one at my local dealer;

hello

i am considering the same thing kinda except

i already have the base 12 gt with 3.73 and brembos, but i want recaros and sync and like the overall looks of the 13, not that i don't like my 12 looks.

where did you get the cost of $500 for recaros in the 13??

i know they will be cloth but the gt500 recaros are leather and were a $1600 option and the new ford racing recaros are cloth and list for $3000

let me know, thanks

I think I am actually wrong. I am being told in another thread that the recaros are ONLY available in leather? And that its 1,000 for the option, not 500. This is coming from a thread discussing the canadian order book (so slightly different than ours)

Yep, anybody that laughs at that never drove one. What fantastic cars those were - would love to have one for racing or a DD (along with the Stang, of course).

i concur, they are great for DD and good fro track. they coudl use more upper body support IMHO. as for getting in that depends on how you drive. iliek to be close and drive, not laying back with arms stretched out. the side bolsters do get in teh way a bit, but you get used to it. i slip between the wheel and bolster **** first to avoid scraping the seat each time i get in and out. if you put a leg in first and then slide in like most folks it rubs the bolsters a lot, or at least it did for me.

4500 difference as well as 0% financing? I'd get a 12 if styling is not a deal breaker and not look back. The 13's will be old news when the 15's come out in 2014 and we'll all have to deal with severe depreciation hits.

Totally agree! The seats fit like a glove. You will not regret unless you decide not to buy.

Standard BOSS seats out Recaro seats in.. My opinion the standard seats are very comfortable and provide great support for highway use. Under tight turns that the BOSS is capable of the standard seats let the driver move to much. The Recaro`s are a little bit stiffer but the trade off for keeping your *** in the seat is worth the swap even for the street. I did my change out in less than 30 minutes.

I'm 6'6" and weigh in at 260. I also have a long body. I wear 34 or 36 inseam. I love the Recaros but need to lose about 20 pounds for them to be REALLY comfortable. They are good now but a little tight in the hips.
