I am reviving this thread because I would like to get additional info from those who have it. I would like to start tracking the commit numbers to put the cars into actual build sequence.
I have found the commit number on three places since I took delivery of my car. Everyone should still have access to one of these:
Driver's side rear quarter window: The large 4 digit number in the center of the sticker.
Driver's seat protective bag: A separate sticker with a 4 digit number, the VIN, the words: 'Commit #:', and a date and time stamp.
The passenger side differential tube: The number appears in a grey box at the upper right corner of the label.
See the pics below for examples.
If you can get the commit number, please post it along with your Boss/LS # in the Vehicle number thread.
Thanks!

EDIT: here you go.
Mustangs are not built in vehicle identification number order. They are built in Commit number order. That commit number is not on your window sticker, but you may see some labels on parts of your car with the number. It's a four digit number that rolls over when it reaches it's maximum value.
The gaps in the Mustang commit numbers are the Mazdas being built along with the Mustangs.
To confuse things even further, the body shop, paint shop and trim line all have their own commit numbers.

AAI uses a commit number (Job number) to determine the order of the car on the line. These commit numbers are used by both Mazda6 and Mustangs. AAI uses at least three sets of commit numbers - 1 for the body shop, 1 for paint, and the third for final trim.
Commit numbers can be assigned as close as a couple of hours prior to production.
Commit numbers are four digits so once they reach their highest value, it starts over at the lowest number.
This commit number does not appear on the Window Sticker, but you will see it on labels attached to various components of the car.

The VIN's aren't assigned to the bodies until after the paint shop, so it's possible to insert or delete a build up until that time. This is where the Commit # comes in.

I crawled under the car to look at the axle and I don't have the sticker with the commit number on it. I have the sticker that goes completely around the axle but not the other one.

3405 maybe. #0030.
I found a shot the day I picked up the car but the number is reverse. Tough to see.
Not sure if these dates from the window sticker have anything to do with build date.
