Boss 302 Vs M3
I haven't seen a thread about this, so if this has been covered, my bad.
I ran into an M3 last week on my way home and I was following him for a good 5 mins around some curves but traffic ahead of him prevented any fun happening. Finally the traffic cleared, he took the same round about exit I was going to take and we were off! To my suprise this M3 got out and moved!!! I took the corner going 80-82 (enough to get some body roll to freak me out) and he was still going! I felt embarassed almost since I made it obvious from the rear that I wanted to play.
I think he HAD to have been modded because I thought the Boss was on par with the new M3's? Or am I just wishing?

In a sweeper the Boss should have the advantage due to the stick axle...once you take a set rear end grip is hard to break. If he was pulling away maybe he had better tires and/or suspension...or a better line. Those M3's don't really do anything poorly and are supposed to be very easy to drive at the limit.
It's not really street racing if that's the speed limit or lack of in Germany. I have run into a couple of M3's and unless they are modded they don't get very far ahead of me much. Once I'm modded they should be getting even more frustrated.
This was in Germany, and like Steve said, on some of the roads here withing the "speed limit". Got up to about 150mph toying with a Porsche on the way back from Munich a couple weeks back! Gonna miss the roads here.
Having driven both I can say the Boss is as capable as the M3 but going fast in the N3 is easier. I reached the Bimmers limited fairly early, whereas it was the best part of a year before I was comfortable with the Boss.
The m3 with dinan 3 mod is an awsome car. They have set the standard for what driving is about for quite a number of years. The Boss is as far as I understand north america's answer to the Beemer. Considering the price differential between the beemer and any other car that could hope to compete with it, the Boss is really an outstanding vehicle. (just my opinion)
If you freaked out when you got body roll, there was still probably quite a bit left in your car. Also, you never mentioned what your shocks are set at since that would have an effect also. The M3 driver just may have been more comfortable with driving on the edge and may have been pushing his car at 9/10ths and you were only at 7/10ths of its capability.
