Any advantage to RTR rear diffuser on Boss 302?
I figured you track junkies would like to get all the aero advantages you can, so I'd bring up the discussion of rear diffusers.
Along with the LS front splitter, the LS rear spoiler which is supposed to also help with aerodynamics and downforce, has anyone thought of adding the RTR rear diffuser that is on the RTR mustangs, and if it is actually functional?
Seems like a nice deal b/c you don't have to chop up your OEM diffuser, just take the OEM one off and pop it into place.

I think it looks mean as hell too:

Did they just use our diffuser with a splitter on the bottom? If that s the case maybe we could get just that part from rtr or get one custom made from apr.... Group buy anyone? I dealt with apr on my last splitter, I would be happy to see if we could get a ls front and rtr rear put together. Their stuff took all of the abuse I could dish out.

Its not aerofoil, just a rectangular plank of plastic. So no, no advantages there. But the rear facia doesnt really do that much anyway, the underbelly generates way too much turbulent flow and the actual so called diffuser is not long enough on the underside to actually generate any noticable downforce. But hey it looks awesome and i dont think you`ll be going a lot over 120 in order to notice anything substancial.

Im tellin ya. I saw an RTR in person and it is by far the sexiest back end of any new mustang I've seen. That spoiler and rear diffuser are gorgeous in person. Pics don't do it justice. The LS and pedistal spoiler sits a bit too high for me, the RTR rear spoiler (aluminum) is a good size between the stock Boss 302/GT spoiler and the GT500 spoiler. Perfect size IMO.

It needs to extend as far forward as possible and have a steady 7 to 8 degree rise. The evap stuff has been removed to put the diffuser as high up as possible and it reaches almost to the sway bar. You have vent any air caught on top of the diffuser or you just create more drag.

Shadetree aero never works the way you think it will. The problem is that most have placebo effect on drivers, thinking they're going to go faster so they do.

I saw this over on the Steeda site. I think it looks good. I wonder about the actual effects though....

Bringing this back up because I'm thinking about removing the evap system also. Anyone have any details on what to plug up on the Boss once everything is disconnected?

The vent from the tank has to put some where high up and sheltered. I put a KN filter on it inside a cover next to the filler tube in the rear fender. The plugs are disconnected and what was removable is removed and the plug from the trunk was protected and tied away. And it will throw a code so a tune is needed.
I thought I'd add this for the original topic. Not finished yet with flat bottom but getting close.
