Annoyed with my new to me Boss 302
Well I have had my 2013 Boss 302 for about a week. Yesterday, rear end broke traction on freeway. I almost hit another car. No, I was not driving like a jack ***. I drove the car for a while before incident to make sure tires were warmed up. What the hell. Any way for me to increase rear traction? I don't want this to ever happen again. Ger.

I imagine people are going to need more information. Speed it happened, curve or straight road, road surface, were you shifting and if so, what gear and RPM, etc. My procharged 5.0 has never given me issues with a fully stock suspension, and it will break the rear tires loose at 80 MPH, it I want it to.

tires maybe? what tires do you have on the car, are they "summer only" tires and what was the temperature?
did you turn off traction control and/or Advancetrac before this happened?

Weather report too, please. Like was it raining, had rained, if so how long ago...
Also, were you following some hooptie that was smokin' oil and drippin' transmission fluid?
Or had a large bird decided to go number 2, if you'll excuse the crudeness of language there, right before you got to that patch of road?
Did you spite some witch, pixie, fairy, genie, other form of being that uses powers we do not understand for we are mere mortals and as such our simple cavemen/women brains can't comprehend... uh, anyway, and they decided to poke a little 'fun' your way as a small form of revenge/spite?
I mean... just spitballin' here...
Also this:
Which is fantastic news indeed! However, one must then as if one were driving like a hooligan, a ne'er-do-well-er, a rapscallion, or perhaps a (certain city in Newfoundland that the overly sensitive crass detection system will certainly turn into five (5) splats (aka asterisks))? Although surely not that last, that's just wrong you know. Those things can't drive.
We need answers. Obviously. So get to it, mister!

To be honest, it's a Boss, and it's a Mustang, and they're light in the back, and if the tires are tired, tires are old, tires are not up to snuff, tires are cold, conditions are what they are, etc, ad nauseam, it may just be a little freak coincidence that may never happen again, or you've got a shifting part in there somewhere that's causing the tires to break. I'd get it up on a lift and start prodding/prying about, you may find a bushing that's decided it's no longer going to pine for the fjords, it's an ex-bushing. Beautiful plumage though.
These things simply take investigation. We're all guessin' at the moment, and doin' so from waaaay back here. More info might help, but honestly, it's just gonna need lookin' into. And it may not be solveable except don't have as much power/invest in a stickier rear tire set...
Or just put about 200-300 pounds of depleted uranium just past the rear wheel wells, that'll increase traction... and also be very compact too!
/But I still wanna know about the genie thing.

Well if you bought a low mileage Boss 302 it has the stock from the factory 285/35 19's on the back that might be at least 8 years old and probably stiffer than an 16 y/o on Viagra.
My little V6 has 295/35 19's on the rear that are a year old and will probably get changed out in early 2023 since tires really don't age well. I will say I can put all 305 Flywheel HP down in 2nd, 3rd or higher gear even on wet roads and not kill myself or the guy next to me so Maybe the
might not be completely true unless you had an Advance Trac issue with the traction light going nuts.

So, check your tires and get them replaced if necessary.

Hey, just because you wore them down to the indicators doing burnouts and running hours on the track doesn't mean it doesn't qualify as "wear and tear." Just as long as you're honest about it.
