3rd Annual Mustang/Ford Roundup September 20-22, 2013 Motorsports Park Hastings!

I just wanted to get this out here so you can all mark your calendars. We're kicking around the idea of capping the number of track slots due to capacity constraints, so you'll want to get your registrations in early. We are also considering expanding the length of the event with some optional track time for those that want to make it a longer event. We'll be developing all of those details in the coming months, but at least you can block out the dates well in advance!

Here's hoping Nitto NT01s will net me a carving session!

With your driving ability, I'd put my money on it. ;)

Sounds crazy to talk about limiting vehicle numbers this early , but if you talk to anyone who went this year, you will realize how much fun this weekend is and the likely growth for 2013.

So to cover your butt, it is being suggested to get yourself registered as earlier as you can -- gives George an idea on the count and the early response for 2013.

Stay tuned to this station, Gary will be posting away and you will want to know the progress and ideas for the 3rd Annual event.

Let's do this!

We have some confirmation on the first Ford attendees. Todd Soderquist will be polling more people at Ford and expects to make more announcements at a later date.

Those of you that were able to make it the last two years know Todd was the Mustang Planner and a key player at Ford in bringing back the Boss. He is currently the CD4 Platform Program Manager at Ford and owner of #LS022 for both the 2012 Black/Red Laguna Seca and 2013 SBY Laguna Seca. He and his father Doug will be piloting both cars in competition at the Roundup.

Chuck Drake was Boss 302 vehicle engineering team leader and an expert on Boss 302 development, details, and decisions. Chuck and his father have a pair of 2012 and 2013 Boss 302s plus a collection of classic Mustangs and a continuation Cobra. Chuck’s father will be joining him for the weekend and planning to bring their Boss 302s.
Note: Two father and Ford employee son Boss teams!

The schedule is going to look something like this:

Friday 9/20 is School for new drivers 9AM-3PM, then a little track time for others until 5PM, then to Museum reception.

Saturday 9/21 AM Track Time, PM Autocross, evening BBQ & Drags. Car show during the day and trophies Sat night.

Sunday 9/22 Who's The BOSS of the Mustang's - 9AM-2:30PM and awards at 3:00 PM

Go to http://www.racemph.com for the complete schedule and online registration. Registration for this event will be up soon!

This was such a great event last year....so glad I attended! Since this is so close to me, it's a "no brainer" and "can't miss" event for me. I'll be there again!

steveespo 3/24/13 08:43 AM

Gary
Are there rental cars available? Also where would I fly into from NY if I want to attend? Seems like a cool event, I can't trailer it, have used all my vacation days for Daytona, Road America and VIR this year.

Not that I'm aware of Steve, but they do have a C6 Grand Sport that they use as a school car. I'm checking with George about the possibility of a rental vehicle for you and will let you know what I find out.

steveespo 3/24/13 10:53 AM

Thank Gary, Nebraska is I long haul for me, but I'd like to meet the Midwest group on track.

Closest 'Large' airport would probably be Lincoln. They do have a Hertz there... so the possibilities of renting a Mustang GT with a 6 speed is there.

Steve - I'll bring the fluid, pads and tools :D

George Anderson 3/24/13 12:01 PM

Steve, I'm looking into having rentals available. We will post again on this subject in April.
Thanks for your interest!

Steve,
Check Omaha for flying in also--its only 60 miles east of Lincoln.
Most likely has more flights, maybe cheaper, and more rental cars too.
A GT w/ Track Pack would be great!

steveespo 3/24/13 05:50 PM

Found a non stop flight to Omaha for $435, I see it's about 2 1/2 hrs from Omaha to Hastings Motorsports Park. Hertz doesn't have any Adrenaline collection cars there though. If a track rental is available or maybe Avis has a Mustang or specialty car rental I'll book it.
Thanks guys.
Steve

If we can find you a car we should be able to figure out how to get your from Omaha to the track. Let's see what George comes up with for rental options.

Some more exciting news to share! There will be yet another member of the Ford management team joining us this year.

Mike Berardi – Director of Ford Customer Service Operations (Motorcraft) is planning to attend. Mike has somewhere in the neighborhood of 30 Mustangs in his collection ranging from 1965 to present. We might have to help him decide which car goes to Nebraska this year. Leading candidates: 95MY Cobra R, 00MY Cobra R or 12MY Boss Laguna Seca

Start making your travel plans. This year's event looks to be even bigger and better than last year
