380 Torque

What do you all expect to see for Boss torque? What we have so far says 380 (est), which is actually 10 less than the 11 GT 5.0 rating.

Do you think it will have more torque across most of the RPM range but a lower peak?

Do you think the 380 is a very low estimate and the actual will be much higher?

I'd guess it's a little of both.

The torque is rated lower partly due to the intake manifold design and revised cams. Better breather and power up top= a little less torque down low. The variable valve timing does wonders helping minimize the torque/hp/efficiency trade off but only can do so much. I personally would rather have a screaming top end all the way to redline and a slight loss in tq!!!

That's how my '07 GT is. 388 lb ft torque and 491 hp (at the flywheel and at 6600 rpm's). The old saying is that "hp sells cars, but torque wins drag races" yet my car runs 0-60 mph in 3.5 seconds and 0-100 mph in 9.5 seconds on the way to high 11's in the 1/4 mile, so torque isn't everything.

You don't even notice 10 ft lbs less, especially with the 3.73.

Yeah, it would be tough to feel the difference of only 10 ft lbs of torque. But that also has be scratching my head about the red key....it supposedly adds back those 10 lost lbs. But that doesn't seem to be a great deal of added performance. So hopefully there is a lot more to the red key than that.

Torque goes down as revs goes up in most cases but that HP will def. get you down the track, look at the M3 with 400hp and 295lbs of torque, still runs 12's I do love me some low end torque though, but that's just me!
