I don't have a 70 Boss 302 but I do have a 70 Mach 1 in Grabber Blue with black hood stripes and a 428 CJ, 4-speed. The new Boss is another one of the best factory Mustangs of all time and I think they would make a nice pair, especially if they are both Grabber Blue.

Once the feeding frenzy stops, prices will stabilize for the 2013 model year, plus increased production numbers to shore up any 2012 shortfall will see ample Boss 302's to be had at prices below MSRP. Some people may be eyeing the 2013 GT500 as well which may sway potential Boss 302 buyers. For those on the fence, next year will be a better year for pricing. The Boss LS will continue to be bid up though.

Assuming they carry through with the '13 Boss. Nothing is guaranteed. We still haven't seen 4000 '12 Boss cars hit the street yet.

Interesting paradox of sorts. Ford wants to sell X number a year to continue to sell them the following year. Dealers are putting on ADM's which directly reduce the sale rate.

Anyway, already starting to see Boss's sit on lots where as they were previously sold before arrival. So far its playing out exactly as one would expect.

Don't worry, they will. Ford has a "slate" number which is the minimum of units to be produced. The number can easily be adjusted upwards to meet demand as stamping extra is just a matter of scheduling. Ford had an over run of Mach I's and 2008-2009 Bullitts to meet sales targets (not actual demand). Even with lower numbers, the 2001 Bullitts were profitable for Ford although not what they wanted. Warner Bros. took a good chunk of that profit.
The hype for the Boss will eventually settle down and you'll see 2012's sitting on lots soon enough. Dealers could even start to discount them when the 2013's start arriving next year. The situation is very familiar as askjeffro stated. Throw in a long in the tooth recession to boot and it will be a great time to buy a Boss if you're patient.

I'll take my 12 now (July) and have already told my dealer to put my name on the first MY13 LS he gets. MY13 colors and exclusivity will determine if I sell the 12 for a new one.

From what I understand, Ford was able to negotiate the licensing fee to $100 per unit.

It was a lot more than that, but that also includes the McQueen Estate as well. Chad got the first three cars. Solar Productions claimed ownership to the "Bullitt" name through Warner Bros. Add another zero to your number and you're close. But the negotiation also freed Ford from any future royalties going forward (2008-2009 models), so they got 100% of the profit. Ford debated even producing the car because of all the legalities and "lost" revenues. Good thing they went through with it.

I suppose it depends on who you talk to at Ford, but unit cost, as I understand, was not in that range (unless my memory is bad, which it could be), and Chad actually got three "MCQUEEN" numbered Bullitts, all of which were not the first off the line but produced sometime later, even thought they got those special numbers.

Got to love movie royalties!

Would Love to own a 13 Boss! Out of My Price range! Would like to see the LS Painted School Bus Yellow like the TRANSAM BOSS 302's of Bud Moore! He painted them that color so He could see em on the track! My 70 Mach 1 was once painted Daytona Yellow! Awsome Color! Like to see the Regular Boss's have a Shaker Hood Scoop Option like the 70's.

I didn't know PJ was a designer. All this time I thought he was a race car driver

You can call it fierce fuchsia if you want; I'll go with the factory designation
