2013 Boss gets better gas mileage than GT??

I've been in the market for a new Mustang and noticed on Ford's website they list the gas mileage for the Boss at 17/26 and the GT is listed at 15/26. How can the Boss get better mileage even though it has more hp and lower gears?

dont believe everything you read. 95% of the bosses will never see 22 to 26mpg. I drive mine easy and the best city driving I can do is 18 to 19mpg. The only way a boss will get 26mpg is down hill with a tail wind...lol

Looks like you're getting better than the rated 17 for the city though.

This, or if you change the gears to 3.55's or lower.

Driving it like a "everyday" car, my typical driving which is rural 2 lane roads 55-50, I've averaged a steady 22-23 mpg, no problem.

I got 24+ on my drive from Laguna Seca with the silver key.

Normally between 9.7 and 10.7 in city driving.

My 2013 GT500 averaged 24mpg on my trips from Chicago to Oklahoma & back. Typical city mileage is about 17-18.

Average since new 11.9, broke 12 mpg once briefly. Mostly city driving, very very hard, with a complete disregard for fuel economy. I have about 1800 miles on the car now. I don't drive it enough to worry about mpg, but I'm sure it gets good mileage if you are frugal.

I only have 1300 on mine and I average about 13.0. But I don't baby it and I don't really flog it much either. Just recently found out it has a sixth gear (joking) but can't seem to justify using it. The car just sounds way to bad to calm it down by running in sixth!!!

I average about 15 with a mix of city and Autobahn. I get to use sixth gear quite a bit too, you can only go so fast in 5th!

When I had my Boss and using for work 30 miles each way I averaged over 21 almost 22. This is doing 75 in Phoenix.

I've got just a tad over 1400 miles now since October 10th, and have never reset the trip B setting. So, averaging 16.7 for the life of the car. Not bad.

So back to the original question... Why is the Boss listed as getting better gas mileage in the city than the GT?

Possibly also because it's lighter, only slightly, and more power could get it cruising quicker and more efficiently, possibly.
