2013 Boss 302 ordered (Questions)

Maybe someone can shed some light on the subject. I ordered a 2013 Boss 302 (standard) School Bus Yellow from a Dealer in NJ six Weeks ago with a down payment (contract). They still can not give me a build date or delivery date. Nothing on computer. My first question, is this normal for this vehicle? Secondly they stated that each car gets delivered separately on its own truck. Is this correct or am I getting the cold shoulder here. I am concerned that I will not get the Boss. Any input would be appreciated.

Did they say anything about this being an allocated vehicle? For example if your car is a fourth quarter vehicle, it is normal at this stage not to have a build date or VIN assigned. Do a search for window sticker on this site, it is one of the first ways to verify your vehicle's being in the production line.

go to this forum and ask mark to look it up.
you will need your dealer number and the order number. he will be able to tell you if there is a vin # yet and where the car is at as far as updates from ford.

read that thread and you will see what i am talking about

here is the link

Separate truck? That’s a good one; it will be shipped with whatever is hitting the dealer on a particular day. I guess separate truck could mean shipped with a single F150 or something?

You can use this to look up your window sticker.....

http://services.forddirect.fordvehic...BP8CU4D5236321

After the "=", put in your vin number, like the one in the link. If your window sticker is available, it will pull it up.

Call ford customer service and ask to speak with a zone rep. My dealer couldn't or didn't provide any info. A zone rep called me back and assured me I had a second quarter car and it arrived in June last year.

Also try Deysha on TMS search for Ford customer service. She is also very helpful

PM Deysha, she will crack some skulls if that's what it takes to get you an answer.

Deysha definitely helped me. I ordered a 2013 mustang GT and was told it would take 6 - 8 weeks. That was on April 3rd. Its now June 23rd and I still don't have it. However deysha did get me a vin # and build date. It was built on June 18th and expected at the dealer on July 2. For me, I learned a valuable lesson. Never order a car. Find one. It would have taken less time. When a customer plunks down the kind of money we are for a product, that should be considered a guaranteed sale and should go right to the head of the line. I was so bull, I almost went foreign. They had plenty of cars on their lots in all colors. No wait.

Read the information provided by gremlinsteve. This all depends on what allocation the dealer has, a Q3 or Q4 allocation. Just get your order number and dealer number off of your DORA form, and ask Mark on the BMO forum. If you have a valid order that has been accepted as valid into the order system, it would show up as;

Unscheduled - Material Hold

Read this if you want to understand the ordering and allocation process.

I'm curious what would make you want to order one in the first place? There are quite a few available on the lots across the country. They move fast but I got mine this weekend with little hassle. I just called up the dealer and 2 days later came in to get my car (it was about 350 miles away but no problem there).

Every single car I saw while doing research had the same options (Recaro/Torsen, Car Cover/Floormats). There aren't many options to be had in the first place on this car.

If they're quoting you 3 months+ for a domestic car, definitely start searching on the Internet and find a car already on the lot.

Ordered it for MSRP, no premium added with a Sales Manager's signature. I can wait.

Hey Fish, they have to know what quarter the car is schedule to be built in. I have a 4Q car and I knew this back when allocations just got released (February). Just ask the manager, or better yet, ask the fleet manager. If he/she doesn't know, have them email their zone rep. They will know and then you'll know when to approximately expect a VIN number for your sweet car!!

Same here my sales rep said 4th Q build. But they had the same build Q for their 2012 Boss. It arrived in August last year so maybe both of ours will arrive early!

Dealer has a print out with order number and it shows "Locked" with a partial VIN and material hold show on their computer. It has been 7 weeks since order. They are trying to get more info
