Just For Giggles Clean the Battery Terminals & Cables Again. I have Had Some That Looked Kitty Clean but a Film on the Connections would Make it act Dead! What you Got to Lose!

I've had issues like this before, even with a new battery. Only description I've ever used is a "dead cell" in the battery. Crank a hundred times in row, then won't hit a lick at all. And like KC said, check and clean all connections and check grounds. Sand them and tighten well.
If it quit while running, you've got some other issue. If the alternator is putting out properly to the system, you should basically be able to take the cable off the battery and it still run, the battery just starts it and the alternator runs everything after it's running and just keeps a surface charge on the battery.

I'll buy it from him cheap if he wants to get rid of it! :-)
but seriously, I would also start with the battery ... if it's the original battery, I'd be taking a ride to Walmart for a new one without a second thought

Also, If this vehicle isn't operated for prolonged periods? you may also want to consider connecting a battery tender which keeps the battery fully maintained and charged...
