Will the 2020 Mustang Hybrid Remain True to the Muscle Car Spirit?

Many Mustang fans are cynical about their favorite car going hybrid in 2020. Ford is dedicated to winning them over.

Yes. Maybe. No. Well, I don't know. Problem is it's too early to tell for a couple of reasons, but the big one is this:

Where in the lineup is it going to land?

If it's above a GT in performance (aka, EcoStang, GT, then Hybrid) then it will definitely be in the contention.

If it's below the GT, then no, it'll just be a cute addition. It may even just be a replacement for the EcoStang to get those CAFE numbers better.

Until this particular unknown is known (and I did some looking, so unless someone can find the rock it's hiding under, I don't think anyone but Ford knows right now), then this question is rather moot.

---

That said... What makes a 'muscle car'? My old school self says no Mustang is one. They're Pony cars, never have been anything else. A muscle car would have been a bigger car, a more 'family sized' coupe like a TBird, with one big bad motor in it.

But since they really don't make those (well, Challenger Hellcat, so there's one, that big pig) guess the Mustang has to fill the slot it really shouldn't occupy.
