Tuned EcoBoost vs. Stock GTs (Shootouts Part 1)
We will film more in the Spring.
Right now, this video consists of:
1. Three 50-80mph pulls.
2. One 0-60 Tuned EcoBoost Premium Performance Package vs. Base GT w/ Performance Package
3. One 0-60 Tuned EcoBoost Premium Performance Package vs. Base GT w/ 3.55 option
4. Solo 0-60 run results for all 3 cars.
I'm sure there will be no strong opinions about this video.

I think it's a very good amatuer comparison despite less than ideal test conditions and imprecise measuring capabilities.
That said, sometimes we get hung up too much on test results from magazines where shootouts are conducted under more controlled and professional circumstances. These guys seem like average Joes driving their Mustangs in real world conditions on real roads, and that's how most of us drive our cars.
Perhaps slightly different results might have resulted with professional drivers on a track, and perhaps even with automatics, but I don't think that was the point of their efforts. I think they were as objective as possible and did a good job.
My takeaway? The EB seems pretty darn impressive and sure has gobs of torque. If cost is an issue, or if the car is intended to be a DD, especially for longer commutes to and from work, I don't think there's any shame in owning a Mustang with a four banger. And with a different exhaust and some other basic mods, it sure seems like an EB is a contender.

It was a good comparison, but it'd be nicer to see in nice weather so the two PP tire packages would have ideal conditions. I also may have missed it, but who tuned the car?

I had to go with the GT PP because I love the Coyote... but I really like the potential of the EB. If I lived in a warmer climate, I could definitely see picking one up for my wife as a daily.
This is definitely not a fox body situation where the 4cyl is a laughing stock. There will be plenty of EB's embarassing V8's this summer, I think.

One thing I noticed during the section of the video where the hoods were all raised is the close tolerance between the top of the engine and the hood. It looks as though supercharger applications on the S550 might require a different hood.

I enjoyed this video a lot. Your average guys with stock Mustangs enjoying the comraderie and the enthusiasm w/other Mustang enthusiasts that get it. Something to admire. I liked the Ecoboost's determination, it gave the V8's a run for their $$ to a certain speed until the other 4 cylinders piled on lol. Reminds me of my little 327 Impala column shift 3 speed running for all her little bore & strokes were worth against those 4 speed big bad long stroked 389 GTO's I despised & would run against despite the odds back in the late 60's, early 70's. I'd nose them out in the 1/8th mile but the 1/4....I had the same problem as your Ecoboost did lol. Thanks again for making the movie. Dennis
