Torsen rear axle

Is a Torsen rear axle considered to be better than the axles Ford offers in the Mustang. The Torsen is lower 3.73 than the Ford 3.31 or 3.55. Fuel mileage might not be the best with the Torsen?

The rear end was made as a track piece. Better distribution to wheels during cornering.
Not a good set up for drag racing though.

The Torsen uses an arrangement of gears to feed power to the wheel with the most traction. the Ford diff uses a pack of clutches. Track use will wear out the clutches.
